I had many of these when having ivf and they never hurt. I can only imagine it'd hurt if you have VA and are very dry or shrunken in there. However, they do use a lot of lube like ky jelly on the wand they insert which should hopefully ease it a bit. I can't imagine it would cause any long lasting effects, although I wonder if you'd bleed a little if you did have VA.

I've had 3. No pain, mild discomfort (as around meno) and no lasting effects. Essential to get a good look around.

Hello goodgal52
I have had a few of these procedures and there is no problem at all. As mentioned, they use a lot of lubrication and the only thing I noticed was that it felt a bit cold.
It is worth having done and I am sure that you will be fine.
Take care.

I had one a couple of weeks ago. No pain or after effects at all and lots of gel used. Lady who did it explained everything.

I've had several and never had a problem with them. They're not the most elegant of things to have done (!), but not sore at all as loads of gel was used. Big advantage over abdominal scan is you don't need a full bladder

When I had mine done it was a little uncomfortable, but didn't hurt at all in fact I found it very soothing as the probe had loads of gel on it and it cooled my insides down. The technician was male and he asked me if I was ok with him doing the ultra sound, if not he would get a female to do it. He was very good as he talked through everything whilst he was doing the ultra sound.

I am a bit concerned that men are now able to 'self-identify' so if we ask for a woman (a biological one) we are considered bigots. Which is ironic given that medicine is supposed to be scientific. How we 'feel in our souls' is not used as a diagnostic tool as far as I know.
