Ovestin Bleeding
« on: May 07, 2023, 08:05:12 AM »

Hi
I decided to give Ovestin a try at end of last year. However it caused bleeding like a period after a fortnight so I stopped using it. However it did help with the dryness so going to give it another try. Just wondering if taking it another way maybe every other day might help prevent bleeding? Also wondering if I could be getting this problem because I’m not using it alongside regular HRT? Anyone else got any advice or experience of this side effect for example does the bleeding settle over time as my GP seems to think is the case? Thank you.

Could the bleeding be caused by friction and dryness? VA can cause bleeding due to the tissues being thin.

Many women use Ovestin without other HRT so do not worry about that. Are you using a vaginal moisturiser too? Yes VM is gentle and I use it to help insert the applicator.

Morning.  R U able to describe the bleeding - sometimes when the vagina and vulva are dry, any aggravation may cause a 'show'.  Or was it a proper period-like bleed?

How far were you able to insert the applicator?

There are other VA treatments, i.e. 'vagifem' and 'gina'.
