Utrogestan query - sequi vaginally or continuous?
« on: March 01, 2021, 02:35:07 PM »

Hello  :)

I’m on the fourth month of 2x gel daily and 200mg utrogestan for 12 days a month and have not had a bleed at all during this time.

Prior to the sequential, I was on the continuous regime for 18 months and only switched as I had a couple of months where I had a very light period. The specialist who I’d seen, believes this was due to my own hormones kicking in (diagnosed with premature ovarian failure) and am 40 so maybe my ovaries woke up for a short time haha. She said that not bleeding doesn’t matter and suggested I could try switching to the continuous regime again. Also had a few pelvic cramps after I stop utrogestan, which she thinks is due to my uterus feeling like it wants to bleed.

I really don’t know what to do for the best now! I felt ok with the continuous utrogestan and actually find the hormonal dips when I start/stop taking it on the sequi are quite difficult.

Should I be worried about switching to continuous again without having had a bleed? Am worried that my lining may have built up.

Also, I take the utrogestan orally. I didn’t get on with taking it vaginally everyday, but wonder if I should try another month taking it this way for 12 days to see if I get a bleed.

Any thoughts or experiences would be much appreciated right now, as I’m not sure what to do for the best!

Thank you xx

Hi, I see that this was posted a couple of years ago, but stumbled across it when scouring the forum for experiences like mine.
I'm  not getting on with sequential  utrogestan at all. It's  better than the 1 and a half months I tried Evorel Sequi  patches, but I still struggle with low, tearful and angry mood, feeling bloated, sore and greasy, and occasional erruptions of cystic acne.
I've  tried 2 months of Utrogestan  200mg for 12 nights orally, and I'm  in the middle of trying the same dose vaginally, but I am really not enjoying feeling like this.
Wondering what you did in the end? Have you  - or anyone else - found side effects lessened on a continuous 100mg dose? Am wondering if the fluctuating levels might be part of the problem as my body never gets used to it.
Also not bleeding in the breaks. I was very nearly menopausal when I started HRT - then I had a rogue period pop up after 10 months so they declared me not-quite and the algorithm dictated I Must Take Sequential.
