So I am on HRT Sandrena gel for 14 days and then 2 x 100mg Utrogestan capsules which I recall Gp saying for remaining 14days which I am due to start on Monday.

The instructions on the box of Utrogestan state to take 2 x 100 tabs for 12 days!  I have only just noticed this. So are these tablets usually taken for 12 days or 14?Obviously I will have to try and get a telephone appointment with the GP next week to clarify but just wondered if anyone had been in this situation.

I am 47 years old think I am post meno but haven't had periods for years due to contraceptive so in the dark about them. Don't want to take implant out though as couldn't deal with possible heavy bleeding after having years previously of bad  PMS and heavy periods.

Hi

I take mine for 12 days usually. I think the minimum is 10 days (I have stopped at 10 days before, if I start bleeding before the full 12 days) but some guidelines state 14 days.

I think 12 is "within guidelines" but some GPs prescribe for 14 days which makes it easier to manage - 2 weeks on 2 weeks off. Hope that makes sense.

PS I take mine 14 on and 14 off irrespective of if I have an early breakthrough bleed. I go by the calendar and not by bleeds to make sure I am having sufficient Progesterone to protect my womb (I hope) x

12 days is in order for 200mg.

12 days is fine. Some ladies take it for 14 as it’s easier to remember,

Thank you ladies for all the information you have kindly provided.  Think I will take it 14 days as Gp stated when I saw her and call her just to clarify if I can get an appointment!.  Brain fog is present and this will be the easiest way for me to remember
