Can I increase HRT?
« on: April 27, 2023, 04:05:14 PM »

Hi...I'm 66, had a hysterectomy at 43 (kept overies), been taking taking 1mg systemic oestrogen only for at least 16 years and using oestrogen pessaries for VA for the last 2 years. Although I'm fit, a healthy weight, never smoked and excercise 3 times a week I'm experiencing joint pain (big toes, left thumb, elbow, lower back and neck). My question is, is this just getting older or would asking to increase my HRT be an answer? I wanted to ask here before asking my doctor for an idea of what might be possible and if others have experienced joint pain too. Thank you.

Hello Dancer and welcome to the forum. I have found increasing oestrogen to control aches and pains has helped me a lot. I do not think we should have to accept this as it is really horrible to have to deal with. I think it is worth trying an increase to see if it helps. :)

Thank you Flossieteacake... I'll try to have a chat with my GP.
