Need to do a Vagifem reload but already take daily
« on: April 21, 2023, 03:12:47 PM »

Having a really bad flare up the last couple of weeks and now affecting my bladder. Doesn't feel like an UTI just feels like my bladder is sore and heavy especially when it fills up and need to go more often. I already use Vagifem daily and Ovestin so doing a reload would mean using more daily?
The old dose would have been 25mcg per day when loading so wondering if I should try 2 x 10mcg for a few days?
Not sore externally so will carry on with usual dose of Ovestin externally nightly.

Flare ups can be difficult to control.  U could try an extra dose on alternate nights to see how the bladder reacts?

When I feel the need2P I swallow 2 Nurfon capsules 3 times a day until symptoms ease.  Restricting liquid intake may make the kidneys work harder = more loo visits!

Thanks CLKD, I'll try that for a few days and if it's VA it should settle, otherwise I'll have to see the doctor for a sample test. I really must drink more too, it was picked up at my Reflexology session last week that my bladder was off balance and I'd never mentioned it.

It takes the littlest thing to set off VA, not feeling well for instance, with me its hayfever and tooth ache and not the best of things to do, having a bath using a very unsuitable bath foam instead of what I call my industrial looking toiletries, sometimes its nice to have a treat but not a good idea with VA.

I am using more moisturiser and a little bit more of Ovestin locally until I get over this phase. I haven't increased Vagifem as I take it every day but from experience flare ups will usually just pass.  Hopefully yours will do the same, Dierdre.

When I first saw meno specialist she told me to use 2 a night for two weeks to get VA under control. I have done that since but just for a week at a time when having a flare.

The bladder can't be 'off balance' ..... what ever that means.  The kidneys will excrete what the body no longer requires.  Restricting liquid intake will cause the kidneys to work harder.  If you are worried about your overall bladder health your GP can refer you to a specific specialist.

If the alternative nights don't help, use extra every night for 5-6.  It's Trial and Error!

Hi Dierdre:  have you been checked for possible bladder/kidney stones?  If you have a tendency towards dehydration,  stones can be an issue.  Good luck.  You know you'll get back on track.

Thanks everyone, I used 2 vagifem last night and have noticed a slight improvement already so will do the same tonight and the rest of the week and hopefully it will do the trick Tinkerbell. Trying to drink more as I forget and the by the time I'm thirsty I'm already dehydrated.
Off balance is just a Reflexology term CLKD meaning it's not right, somethings wrong, not in balance with the body. I was amazed she'd picked it up as I never mentioned the problem so I was very impressed.
I'm sure it was anxiety that caused this Ayesha, had a scare with a red lesion that appeared on my breast over Easter hols and my anxiety went off the scale. Got to go back to the doctors in 3 weeks to wait and see, it's already gone, no idea what it was.
No checks for anything Whatsupwiththis but it doesn't hurt when I pee just feels tender and full. Need to go straight away.
I've had this before years ago when my bladder was prolapsed so hoping to nip this in the bud by upping vagifem and started doing my pelvic floor exercises the physio recommended.
