Before have anything invasive done to your bladder, it might be a good idea to see a pelvic health physio first. A hypertonic pelvic floor can produce these symptoms, I've had this myself. Getting up once or twice in the night isn't too bad. If it were more often than that, it would possibly be an infection.

I was thinking more of Urodynamics to check on bladder function rather than invasive though I have had three cystoscopies and not found them to be difficult. Bladder training can be really helpful and this often goes hand in hand with a referral to a pelvic health specialist/physio as Joaniepat mentions.

I have had a similar experience to you.  I’d tried everything, no caffeine, no carbonated drinks , no green tea or fruit juices.

My GP prescribed Tolterodine for overactive bladder, it worked within a day. Only up once a night now instead of 8.

I’m also on  patches, utrogestan and vagifem.

I saw a pelvic floor physio who talked me through bladder retraining (essentially not going every time you get the urge so that the bladder learns to not send so many "need to pee" signals). But you probably need to see a GP to check whether there is an infection first and if not they might refer for bladder ultrasound to check it is emptying correctly.
Don't be tempted to drink less water as doing so makes the urine more concentrated which irritates the bladder more.
I would also avoid tomatoes and citrus fruit for a bit as well as the things mentioned above.
If it is down to atrophy and not an infection you should see some improvement with topical oestro but you need to do a loading dose daily for 2-3 weeks and then gradually reduce. Some find their symptoms come back when they reduce, some need it every night. This is for life, if you stop your symptoms will likely come back.

I had the same problem, very irrititated bladder - on and off for a few years, had a bladder scan and everything.  I was on 100 Evorel patch and Utrogestan continuous. It turned out to be Utrogestan, I am now on Provera now (although I do currently have some spotting with them) and went back to Utrogestan for a few days to see if this improved and I do sleep better on them but I could feel the irritation coming back. Rather have the on /off spotting than feeling like I need to pee all the time!

I have had an appointment with a Urologist due to frequent urination and lower abdomen pain. Awaiting an ultrasound scan.  I am a week into using Vagifem and Ovastin cream, which seems to be helping to cut down on my through the night visits to the loo. The Urologist was very insistent that I continued to use it, as she believes it helps a lot.  I was advised to cut out tea, coffee and carbonated drinks.  I do enjoy a morning cuppa, so this will be hard to cut out. She also recommended bladder training.  She advised on other various treatments for an overactive bladder, but none of them seem to be without side effects.  It is so frustrating to have this on top of all the other menopause symptoms, isn't it?  I too am keen to know if anyone has any other recommendations.

You can change to decaf tea. That's what I did on the advice of the uro gynae and it made such a difference and didn't taste too bad either

Decaf tea and coffee still have caffeine in though. I cut them out completely and things seem to have improved a bit.

Thanks so much all of you for your help and advice ♥️

I'm gonna try the oestrogen cream every night  for a couple of weeks and and see if that helps. I've given up green tea which was hard lol

I will look at alternatives to the progesterone tablets as well as I'm thinking I'm worse on the 2 weeks on them

Hi Miriam T. Good advice about VA. Have you had any bladder investigations? Also do you feel that you're bursting to go but only pass a little or are you passing a good volume each time? Do you have sudden urgency and how many times are you having to go during the night? Sorry for the questions  :)

I pass a good amount but not a lot then feel I need to go again 2 mins after.
I go 1 to 2 times a night

Hi

I would ask to try Vagifem, this is used internally, the tablet is on an applicator which you insert inside.

This has helped me no end. You will be given a loading dosage of everyday for 2 weeks then you take it 3 times a week after that.

Personally I can’t take it 3 times a week and still need to take it daily.

My GP won’t prescribe it daily and only 3 dosages a week, so I have to get the remaining amount privately.

Best wishes

I feel I'm better on the cream rather than the tablets inserted tbh ? Not sure why

I also feel better on the cream. We are all suited to different things. :)
