More oestrogen? Less oestrogen?
« on: March 20, 2023, 08:01:26 PM »

Well these past few days I’ve been experiencing crampy pain in my tummy, a bit like period pain, irritability, fatigue and some nausea. Still on this 75 patch. Felt quite unwell last Friday and into the weekend.

I’ve completely lost my way with menopause and HRT and only hang into hrt for the sake of my bladder!

GP appt next week, to request blood test for oestrogen levels and to check coil is still in situ ( I’m hoping the thing hasn’t moved!!)

Meno appointment with specialist in April.

Today I’ve stuck in a 100 patch to see if I feel better.

Can anyone resonate with my symptoms ?

Thanks 😊

I think it is so hard getting the right amount. For me, it feels okay then I get cramps or sore breasts and wonder if I need to tweak it too. Maybe it would be worth you trying between 75 and 100 so it is a more gradual increase. It could even be the right amount for you.

Best of luck with your appointment. I know you are having such a terrible time of it all and I really feel for you.

Thanks as always Flossie.
To be honest, I’ve that many health issues popping up, I’m swamped.

Somehow I try to keep going, but really I don’t feel like it. I’m tired of trying to work out hrt etc etc.

How are you anyway? ☀️🪴 x

That is understandable. Meno is hard enough without other things going on. I am okay, thank you for asking. :)

Hi Nas,
Sorry things are still bad for you. You are resolving through it. In some ways I think we are in the same boat. I was getting period like cramps and really tired, my grumpy side showing itself more than ever, and a bit of spotting\bleeding.

So I upped from estradot 50, to cutting   a bit off a 75 patch for a couple of weeks. Went a bit breathless and jittery, fuzzy headed but this settled a bit. started feeling a bit better. So today I went up to the 75. Time will tell. The hrt rollercoaster seems to love people like us.... Like Flossie says it's continuous tweaking.
Which is not what we want I know. I want some constant stability.
But on my good days I am trying more to accept I'm probably unlikely to get that.
But it is encouraging you have appts soon.

Sending you Hugs and the D Ream lyrics

Thanks both
Flossie, glad you are okay 😊

Sarah- THINGS CAN ONLY GET BETTER!! They have to, right??

Right now, there’s is zilch stability, zilch 🙁

Really hoping E75 settles for you quick and you can crack on with life.

Hugs back x

Nas I can honestly say that the one  constant stability out there is what  I find is on this forum.

Couldn't do this without the understanding, the support and the advice I get from people just like you. I'm not being a creep, I mean it. The times I have been rock bottom or hysterical, I turn here sometimes just to know I am not alone.

Get your notes made for your appts,    I am finding a daily 'diary ' is helping me monitor my moods etc. Worth a try maybe before your appts?

Chin up girl, you say you are with me in this madness and that goes both ways
Let us know how things go.

It might be worth asking for the oestrogen pessary as well as your patch, I was using them before I was put on the gel and I have been prescribed them again last week

hope you feel better soon x

Hi Ladies, this is my first post and I need help/ reassurance. I’m 58 and have only recently been put onto HRT. I’m on the gel and the tablets. Originally I was on two pumps of the gel but last month it was upped to four. Since the weekend I’ve had terrible mood swings, stomach cramps and this morning I have a period!!! It’s been more than 5years since I had one and really don’t want to start with all of this again. I feel like I’m losing my mind. Went onto HRT because of hot flushes, muscle aches, sore arms/hands, anxiety and poor sleep. Not sure HRT is helping as main reason was anxiety and I still have that in spades. Think I might be better going back to two pumps of gel. What advice do you have?

Welcome to the forum!
Going from two pumps to four is a big jump. The idea is to increase gradually and give each change two or three months to settle in. I would go back to two for a bit, and then try an extra pump, or even half a pump, and see how you feel. Any change might cause erratic bleeding at first.

Thanks so much for getting back to me so quickly. I think I felt better on only two pumps. I’ve contacted my GP practice and have a phone appointment with the nurse on the 4th April . I’ll update what she says but have reduced to three pumps just now so we’ll see how I get on.

Hi nas
I am to struggling but there is one thing i have noticed on my journey as im not on HRT persay but on ovestin..this is something im trying to discuss with my dr without being a now it all but im finding getting close to my old cycle time 10 days worth from about the 12-22/23 my bp starts to climb and i have all the symptoms of pms and im post meno..lol its just funny because each time i get to see her is more or less in that time frame...i was in there monday my bp was 172/103 which was the day after 4days of pelvic pain nausea, and bloating..im on 80mg bp meds which i have to halve as when i get over that cycle time it drops i took my bp yesterday wed as i was busy and forgot tues as she wants the next 2weeks reading...but my bp after i took my half dose was 112/71 and hr later 102/63..but she wants to add an extra bp tab..i dont think she believes me when i tell her im taking them and whats happening..today thursday its back to where i normaly sit 129/76 so adding another bp med isnt going to fix my issue..one thing she did say is i need a scan and she will send me to a gyno about the hrt as she said she is not quiet sure what to do..thankfully  she didnt tell me to stop the ovestin as im happy to be just on that as it stops my aches and VA discomfort..so i know i do need the estrogen but not alot..and not around that cycle time  i think !  im gathering because thats when i feel mostly crappy..i hope all this makes sense..its all so cofuseing and we are all different 😔

How long have been on hrt? If your other symptoms have resolved it's usually the right dose. Anxiety seems to need a build up of oestrogen, it took 3 months for mine to go. Anxiety can also be a symptom of too much oestrogen so it's important to increase slowly so you know which one yours is (plus multiple non meno related causes too of course).
