post-menopause AND on HRT
«

Ive been on HRT (Femoston 1/10) for 10 years from the age of 45 to 55.
The question is, how do i know if I'm post menopause or not?
I had a 3 month break from HRT last spring for an operation but didnt bleed.
Would I need to come off HRT, wait a year for no bleeding and the assume I am?
I was told Id have to move to Femoston 2/20 once post-meno.
There seems to be very little information out there on this.
Thanks.

changes can be scary, even when we want them

It's Trial and Error. Without stopping HRT we can't tell if we are into menopause = literally the last monthly period. When you had the break how were symptoms over all?
browse round. Make notes.

When I stopped, I was fine apart from the hot flashes, which came, on average every couple of hours in the morning and evening but nowhere near as bad as theyd been ten years ago, e.g. this time around, I simply glowed, compared to being drenched when I first looked at taking HRT years ago.

Hi yes the only way to tell if your post meno is to stop hrt and wait 12 months.
However that’s not really necessary. I’m not sure why you’ve been told to go onto Femoston 2/20…..there isn’t a Femoston 2/20 and that info is incorrect.
Are you on Femoston Conti or Femoston Sequi ?

Hi Bink. I agree with Dotty about the Femoston 2/20. It can all get very confusing. If you are already on HRT then most GPs will prescribe a continuous non bleed HRT from the age of 53 or 54. This info is from the Menu at the top of the page (blue tab)

Sorry - my mistake - I should have said Femoston 2/10.
I havent seen a Dr since before lockdown, when i need a new HRT prescription, I simply get a call from the nurse to ask if I'm fit and healthy/what my blood pressure is and then she just re-prescribes the 1/10.
I had no idea that I should in fact be on the 2/10.
I'll speak to them today and see if I can get it changed.
Thank you so much. Its all so confusing.

Hi you don't need to be on the 2/10. Femoston 2/10 is a sequential HRT for peri menopause.
Is the Femoston 1/10 stopping your symptoms and are you having bleeding on the 1/10? If the 1/10 is sorting out your problems then you could change to Femoston Conti which is a continuous HRT for post menopause.
I'm not sure why you feel you need to change to the 2/10.
