Perimenopausal and breast lump
« on: February 28, 2023, 01:51:58 AM »

Hi, perimenopausal, 54 with some typical hormonal symptoms and skipped periods.
Noticed a very small round lump in breast with monthly self check.  Later in the day it was less than last night it was gone, today it’s still gone.  Had my daughter also check and she can’t feel it anymore.  Had clear mammogram 2 months ago.  Anxiety is high thinking the worst then I try to remind myself I can’t feel it anymore.  Last month started bio progesterone to help shed uterine lining.
Should I ask for a mammogram/ultrasound?
Thanks for any insight

mforest - I have had this since menopause started and they have always been benign cysts, which can vary in size depending on hormone fluctuation. The breast clinic advised that as long as I have HRT, I will keep getting them. If you have had a mammogram in the last 6 months, then the breast isn't supposed to change in this time so I would think nothing worrying and the fact it has gone now.
If you are worried though, maybe visit GP just for peace of mind.

Wait and watch for 5 days.  If the area feels lumpy then put a ring around it with felt tip that will wash off.  Today U could make an appt to see your Nurse Practitioner if you are worried, by which time the breast may have settled.  If it worries you, get it seen ;-)

Let us know how you get on.

Thank you both for your insight and support!
The lump is still gone, area feels normal, some tenderness from me checking periodically.

I’m a worrier, over thinker plus struggling with peri hormonal anxiety for past months, decided peace of mind is important.
Reached out to the nurse who agreed to schedule appt with breast clinic.
