insomnia, absorption issues, tablets? low progesterone?
« on: January 30, 2023, 03:52:24 PM »

I’m having major absorption issues and am battling most of the peri symptoms🥲. The insomnia (as in zero nights of sleep🥹), itching, tinnitus, anxiety , palpitations, low mood and awful PMS are the worst. Dr has suggested tablets and Sandrena gel now after trying  as many different types of HRT. I’ve tried various patches, oestrogel, and also the spray. My perimenopause symptoms started five years ago. I’ve been trying to find a solution for the symptoms for about two years. I’m nearly 44 with two young kids, so just hoping the tablets aren’t too risky. I also am progesterone sensitive ( having major pms) and I have been using utrogestan vaginally 14 days of the month.   I still have periods but have bad pms. Could low progesterone be part of the problem?
Any advice re absorption gratefully received.
Thanks so much,🙏🏼

I’m sorry you’re suffering, it’s really hard with children, I’ve two primary age, one only still 4.

Re your pms - I think it can be linked to falling oestrogen and progesterone too - it’s a hard balance.

How much oestrogen are you on? How do you know it’s absorption issues?

I was on utro vaginally after finding it too groggy inducing. I was moved to continuous and tried vaginally and then orally, and was better.

I wasn’t sure if I was ready for continuous and went back to cyclical but the timing was wrong and I had the most awful pms for ages without the prog.

I’ve sense gone back to continuous and now take x2 utro (trialling 25/28.)

One of the reasons for continuous was that I’d been on it for a year and despite periods (which were light) felt I needed fewer ups and downs.

I’ve only done two months and do feel on a much more even keel.

Your other option could be the mini pill to even out the ups and downs; but that’s why I tried continuous.

Angelasurrey, I’m a poor absorber and tried almost everything.  Oral Estrogen is worth a try as it may work for you.

If oral doesn't work there is an oestrogen implant though this obviously needs a specialist.
