Well, I'm a mess
« on: January 23, 2023, 07:38:41 AM »

Ok smart women out there, I could use some insight.

I've been on a bit of a rollercoaster journey with HRT, with it working for a bit, then not.
Here is my last year + in a nutshell

28.6.22. on.5 divigel 100 Utrogestan continuous.   progestone level 1.63, Estradiol 44.1 thickened lining

new regimen started then retest
31.3.22   on .5 estrodot. 200 mg Utrogestan continuous  thin lining progestone level 16.9  Estradiol 40.3 DHEAS 4.33

new regimen started then retest
06.10.22 on .75 estrodot. 200 mg Utrogestan continous  no lining check   only estradiol checked 91.1

follow up
12.01.2023. .75 estrodot. 200mg Utrogestan (generic substitution at pharmacy) continous.  thin lining, progesterone level 2.04, Estradiol 60.9

Back to being symptomaic with flashes and general misery. Extremely stressful year with a critically ill spouse and death.
Dr has no idea what to do next and said she had to check her notes. She seems very uneasy about this and very unsure about how to manage
me. To be fair, I know this is a "new science" for many.

I'm open to ideas and thoughts. It's been a truly awful year for me with taking care of my critically ill husband and his recent death. I can't manage anything else on top of what I have already.

Thanks for listening and I'd appreciate your insight.

Hi I’m very sorry to hear about your husband. What an awful time you’ve had.

Can you give us some more details about yrself… your age and where you are in menopause. That will help with any advice x

Get your GP to refer you to a dedicated menopause clinic: there are waiting lists for both NHS and Private consults.  The sooner you get onto a list the better.

I am so very sorry for the loss of your husband. My heart goes out to you. I agree that it would be a good idea to ask to be seen at a menopause clinic.

Ah sorry, I left out important information.

I'm 57, no periods for 3 years.
The hot flashes, sleepless nights, it's all back.

I'm looking at private options and/or clincs, but they seem to have mixed reviews.

Thanks for taking the time.

I should have mentioned your husband too - what a roller coaster you have been on!

Some find that keeping a mood/food/symptom diary of use.  To chart progress.  Browse round.  Make notes.

Yes, I've always tracked my food/exercise. The only correlation I found was wine triggers hot flashes, but I average about a glass every six months, so that's manageable.

Thank you

Sorry about your husband, what a dreadful year. I think you need more oestrogen because you still have symptoms and your level is low. Your gp should prescribe up to 100 patch, beyond that you may need a specialist. It may be worth trying a different sort to see if you absorb that any better.

Thank you all.

Does anyone have specific recommendations for clinics. I checked the well-known private clinics and they are booked out until
April/May!

Hello MegnB

You have had a stressful time and I am so sorry for your loss.

I am a patient of Newson Health which is a private menopause clinic. I have found fault with them sometimes but I think I am an awkward case and I am sure many ladies do well with them. Noticeable celebs include Davina McCall and Nadia Sawalha.  Their appointments are by Zoom and they have recently employed more doctors.
When I contacted them initially there was a long waiting list so I asked to be considered for cancellations. About a week later I was offered an appointment and I have been with them ever since.

I hope you get the help that you need and sending hugs.

Take care.

K.

April/May aren't long waiting lists.  Some are up to 12 months.  Get on the list ASAP?

Thank you for your suggestions, everyone.

Kathleen, I am already an awkward case, so may I ask what your concerns were/are?

You can get an appointment with Diane Danzebrink on the link above.

I can't quite figure out what her qualifications are? Does she have a medical background. Her website says she's a coach and speaker.
Thank you for the suggestion.
