Vagifem question
« on: January 10, 2023, 08:25:29 PM »

If I'm taking HRT, is it likely I wouldn't need Vagifem? I've been experiencing some issues and didn't even think about VA as I'm on HRT, but the specialist today said to me it could still be useful. Is it generally common to take both Vagifem and HRT? Sorry if that's a really silly question!

Yes, you will need the vaigfem as this will target the actual VA. It is not a silly question and it is good you have asked. :) Have a read of this thread if you would like more information and tips. :)

It is not uncommon for those using systemic HRT to need local oestrogen as well, as systemic does not always reach the genitourinary tract. I would accept the Vagifem and start asap, before things get any worse.

Agree with the ladies.  I don't use HRT but require 'ovestin' to keep VA under control.

Thank you ladies, so helpful! I had no idea. I noticed some things were changing but as I've suffered for years with interstitial cystitis I assumed it was connected to that until the doctor suggested otherwise today after an examination. Thank you for confirming, very helpful  :)

I need both. Use of patches reduces my frequency of Vagifem but doesn't stop me needing it. I have a slight flare up now so am increasing my Vagifem to sort it out.

Hi Gilla,

I find vagifem is helping as I have a frequent need to urinate. I don’t think it’s optimised but appears more easy to apply than Ovestin.
