Referred back to gynecology again
« on: January 06, 2023, 01:26:44 PM »

Hi ladies dont know what to do next after being on kliofem conti for a few years my gp changed my hrt to ultrogeston and oestrogel as was a safer option, when i was on the kliofem i had a few cervical polyps removed and one that was high up in the womb but unfortunately when i changed to ultrogeston and oestrogel i bled for 7 months on that hrtl so gynecology told me to stop that hrt and go back on another hrt we agreed that i was fine on kliofem and to go back on that she did not think that hrt had anything to do with my re occurance of polyps so i went back on kliofem end of September, been brilliant on it until exactly 2 months later started spotting i didnt go to gp as they usually say leave it a while to settle but i knew somethimg was not right so seen gp this week and mentioned it to her and after examaimation again polyps are back so i said to her look ive been back on this hrt 2 months and now a polyp again what shall i do her answer was i dont know and thats a gp so im trying to pick the courage up to stop hrt but i cant its like a drug because i know how awful im going to feel by stopping it,

It depends how bad you are without it but personally I'd stay on it until you've seen the specialist, perhaps reduce if you can. The real risk is if it's likely to cáncer which can be made worse with oestrogen but polyps aren't going to be life threatening. Are you on the 2 week pathway so should be be seen soon?

I would ask for a referral to a dedicated menopause specialist, as gynaes can be very limited in their knowledge.

MayB look at her profile to see whether she has an interest in womens health?  Our GP is good, he keeps up to date and has several Diplomas above and beyond his qualifications.
