Estrodot 100mcg for perimenopause
« on: January 04, 2023, 03:24:10 PM »

Hi I’m 46 and started on estogel two pumps but it sent my anxiety sky high and gave me a heavy/tingly feeling in my legs so my gp said to try patches at a dose of 100mcg, twice weekly.  When I started the patches on Xmas eve I felt better but again my anxiety has got worse and finding it hard to sleep , and legs beginning to tingly again 😩 I have had to increase my propranolol to cope, even though my anxiety has been under control for the last 18th months before I started HRT.  My question is should I cut the patch in half so would be 50mcg?? As don’t want to go back to the doctors and waste more HRT as have three months worth and takes ages to get a reply form the doctors, anyone else had the same issue as I think the dose is just too high, thank you

Hello slowrunningjane and welcome to the forum. I think your plan of cutting the patch in half is a good one. It does sound like you were given too much and your body may not be used to it.

Thank you for your replies, didn’t realise it would be so hard to find the right amount of HRT to take

HRT is so personal and it can take time to find the right type and dose. Do not worry, you will get there.  :)

I would use a quarter patch or if you still have gel use one pump. If anxiety wasn't a meno symptom and you got it on gel it's likely to be from too much oestrogen not to little. Anxiety and insomnia can be symptoms of both too much as well as too little oestrogen. It may be that 25mcg is enough or it might be that one of the people who has to build up slowly.

Hi I think anxiety was the start of meno symptoms but didn’t realise at the time but had settled over the last 18months due to medication.  I have cut patch in half and had it on since Wednesday but still getting tingly legs, headache today and sore breast 🤷‍♀️ not having much luck

My breasts hurt a lot of the time and even more so when I adjust my HRT. I am sorry you have these symptoms. I hope the pass soon once your body is just to the new amount.
