Headaches
« on: December 06, 2022, 05:03:18 PM »

Just wondering if anyone else has suffered headaches? initially my began early 40s, there has always been a pattern as in drop in mood before one then lifted relief when headache appears. Similar for hot flushes if my memory serves me right!  It’s the relation between mood & headache that baffles me and no medic has ever given me an answer.
I’m post now & got them settled but then whole Covid stuff messed up my hrt so back to drawing board🤞X

Hi sweettooth
Yes, it’s one I’d my hormonal symptoms although I don’t get relief when it kicks in. I’ve had more migraine type symptoms but am loathed to mention to GP as they’ll blend HRT and there’s no way I’m coming off that! Both Covid (in 2020) and vaccines impacted my HRT too. I emailed a well known meno specialist who said it’s been highly reported as an issue. So many of us stable then wham! Me too! But I do think stress of the pandemic can’t be underestimated and will impact hormones and the HPA axis.
Do you have treatment for the headaches?
Hoping this bumps your post and others will be along 🤞 x

Hello sweettooth

Yes one of my earliest post meno symptoms was headaches. They would occur daily but always fade away in the evening. After six months they stopped happening althogether.

Strangely during my recent experiment with reducing my Sandrena gel I have had a few headaches again. I was never prone to headaches in the past so I feel they are definitely hormonal.

I never noticed a mood change with the headaches but I do notice my moods swinging. I usually feel a bit brighter and calmer for a while before my mood changes again and I feel pretty low and teary. This also lasts for a while before my mood either rises again or just settles on ' normal '. I have no control over these changes and I can feel the shift in my brain if that makes sense.

I hope this helps in some way and take care.

K.

Hi shoppingqueen, thank you for kindly replying.  Yes I can understand the blame on hrt!  I never really went to docs re them, I knew they were hormonal as my face used to be so hot at same time and then the change in mood, it was the constant daily routine of them that was and still is difficult though the mood now is worse and like you said re hrt…covid has been one big problem for lots of us ladies.  I just take paracetamol these days and rub 4head in.  How about you, what do you take? X

Kathleen, the mood swings are awful these days so I do sympathise and I’m beginning to wonder would I feel as bad had I not restarted hrt again🤷‍♀️ The fact yours has reappeared must be down to low Estrogen.  It’s so frustrating knowing what’s best!!  I also get the low and teary spells so I know exactly what you are going through we have no control at all.  This morning has been awful and I’m waiting and hoping something will click and I’ll get relief.  Take care x

Hello ladies ,I was just reading through in the hope I could find some advise with regards to my headaches & came across your thread, I hope you don’t mind me jumping on it . I seem to be experiencing tension type headaches ( squeezing pressure like a band ) which fluctuates during the day , almost like it has a squeeze then disappears then does it again , it seems to happen in different parts of my head , I also have neck pain & slight stiffness like I’ve slept funny causing a crick  in my neck. I tried HRT but was taken off it a couple of weeks ago due to blood pressure. I’ve had blood test so waiting for the results before the doctors will decide if I can go back on HRT ( blood pressure was tested for a week & deemed normal ) since then I’ve had period pains but no period for about 7 months now , I have breast tenderness & a very itchy scalp & skin. I’m thinking the headaches are hormonal but if anyone has any advise it would be greatly received. Thank you x
