Increased gel and keep bleeding ? Any tips ?
« on: December 30, 2022, 04:12:52 PM »

Hello everyone I’m new to the group .👋🏻
I was told to increase by 1 pump daily as bloods showed oestrogen still a little low,so started with half an extra pump as directed but i bleed . I stopped the extra gel and the  bleeding stops. What shall I do? Can’t deal with periods again all over the place .
Thank you xx

Hi!  when was your last period, if you can remember ?

What did you begin HRT for?  MayBe add extra pump twice a week?  The body doesn't get where it is suddenly so may need to adjust to any extra replacement.  Some find that keeping a mood/food/symptom diary.

They started me because i I felt so awful and my GP had me on antidepressants but. New I wasn’t depressed, I had Every symptom going for about 4 years ..now I feel amazing it’s the best thing I have ever done except the bleeding … I only increased because they said my levels were low but I felt ok tbh .

Hi Sophsmort and welcome.

If you felt good on the dose you were using previously, I'd be inclined to go back to that. The oestrogen dose is normally titrated according to how you feel. If you started HRT after only 8 months of no periods, then possibly you are still perimenopausal and blood tests would not be reliable, as you would still have your own cycle in the background.

Yes I think you are right jp.
Is it ok to be on full HRT if you still get the odd period ?
I’m going to cut back to my regular dose for now .
Thank you so much for your advice x

I think if you are still in peri and you use a continuous regime, you run the risk of breakthrough bleeding. It would be more usual to use a sequi regime, where bleeding would be more predictable. Women in peri can use conti, though.

I've no direct experience as I'm in surgical meno, so I hope someone more knowledgeable can advise.

Best wishes,
