extremely painful periods
« on: December 06, 2022, 01:00:00 PM »

Hi Everyone, im new here as recommended by my doctor, ill try and keep it short ;O)
so ive been peri for a couple of years, im just about to turn 46 in February, I was on the mini pill for about 15 years and had to stop because I was getting big painful lumps in breast which can be a side effect, so husband had the snip for me to come off the pill, fast forward 5 years and my periods are horrendously painful, but only for 3 days, i have to take painkillers every 3 .5 hours for 48 hours otherwise im nearly passing out from the pain, I have all the peri symptoms and have started taking her and health peri tablets, which has helped with the peri symptoms, so my doctor is happy to get me started on a small dose of hrt, in the hope this helps with the pain each month, has anyone been in the same situation and has it helped with the pain.
many thanks x

I had painful, clotty periods for years  >:(.  I found 'feminax' the go-to for pain relief, the idea being to take 3 days prior to an expected period to relax muscles.  MayB have a lookC on line to see if the drug is produced?

Do you have fibroids?

Hello donna beauty and welcome to the forum. I really am sorry to hear you are having to deal with such painful periods. I think it is really good you are going to start trying a low dose of HRT and I really hope this helps you with the pain.

I went on The Pill to ease pains.  Have you been examined to make sure it isn't endometriosis?

HRT helped with my painful periods, they were very light and hardly any PMT. I have stopped now due to other reasons and I'm dreading my next period xx

I can sympathise completely, having suffered all my life with period pain. Mine only got worse once on HRT, it did not matter which type or whether it was cyclical or continuous I still had painful bleeding. Long story short I am having a hysterectomy tomorrow, as it turns out I have adenomyosis, and my specialist said he could not see any other way forward to ease the pain. It has only taken 40 years of suffering......Please keep on at your GP for answers, and let me know what happens x

Hello all I'm new here today, 49 years of age, been having peri symptoms for some time now, couldn't come to terms with it, still cant really. August to October, period every 14 days, November missed, December seem to be having a period which is very light but very painful, my stomach looks like I'm pregnant which I'm not, how long before I can get real support from doctors, they have referred me but appointment not till February 2024 with the gynecologist as doctor wants me have a coil surely this can't be right?

Hi all, so pleased I have joined this forum, so refreshing to have great support thank you 😊 I don't feel hrt is helping me as much as I hoped. Started to have period's only 14 days in-between again, becoming very sensitive around the first day, tearful, go within myself, don't go to gym that week as feel so tired and off my food, feel sorry for my boyfriend cause no matter what he does or says its wrong. Period is heavy and painful, really bad headaches, feel like im 16 again lol then a week later I'm back to myself.... I can't go on like this, it's not nice feel miserable 😕
