Anyone experience muscle twitching and internal vibrations?
« on: December 06, 2022, 10:59:17 AM »

Hello All,

I'm 53 and in full blown perimenopause and looking for some (hopefully) success stories of anyone who has had muscle twitching and internal vibrations that actually got better post menopause OR on HRT.  I've been having intermittent symptoms over the past year really and tried HRT and now on a low dose BCP that seems to be doing absolutely nothing for me :(  I have a full blown period and not even on a break week.  I'm meeting with my Dr. in a couple of weeks to discuss going back to HRT to see if that may help my fluctuating symptoms more than the pill is doing.  Thank you so much!

Can't help but didn't want to rush by.

Hopefully some one will be along, there are threads on palpitations and 'vibrations' on the Forum.

I had this a LOT! Twitching,  vibrations (felt like my phone was going off when I didn’t even have it with me) and a low level horrible tingle/inflammation especially at night. It felt like that feeling g you get when you look down from a great height.

All gone since I’m on HRT.

Hi, I also had this sensation. Mine was a vibration in my chest/upper stomach area mainly at night.
At first I thought it was palpitations but I could feel my pulse which was nice and regular even when the buzzing was going on.
Went away about two weeks after I started HRT,  came back briefly but went away again when I upped my dose from 2 to 4 pumps of oestrogel.
Hope this helps to put your mind at rest.

Hi, YES this is something I get especially around what would have been ovulation and my period (have kept a track over past 2 years).

The vibrations/flutterings are in my chest and uterus mainly. For me it is a sign of low oestrogen and HRT has helped but not eliminated it entirely. I have increased oestrogel when the vibrations affect my sleep. Sometimes they have been strong enough to waken me up, as well as preventing me dropping off.

From what I have read, it seems likely to be linked to perimenopause fluctuations and should hopefully sort itself out as hormones stabilise. HRT has been good for me but has not stabilised the wild hormone fluctuations I currently have. I also have long covid and that adds another layer of complexity to all of this. My body is very dysregulated!

But I think we will all eventually get through it!

Should add that my heart and blood pressure are perfectly healthy, so these vibrations are a separate matter.

I had internal vibrations a lot; worst meno symptom by far. Sorry to say, but for me they happened on and off over about 10 years. I’m 65 now and they seem to have gone. Hope l’m not speaking too soon 🙏

Hi, I’m 42 and been having random, horrid symptoms for over 2 years now. Since July I’ve been suffering daily with muscle twitches / spasms. I got myself into a real state about it, convincing myself I had a terminal illness. These twitches etc are literally all over and random. Sometimes like a bad rippling sensation, others like popcorn popping under my skin. Some days they happen literally most of the day (predominantly at rest), some days less so. As I type they’re happening!! About 6 weeks ago suddenly they eased substantially. Wonderful I thought!! Now they’ve started again, I’ve no idea why or what the trigger is. I’m doing my best to ignore them but it’s hard when I feel like my legs are bubbling! I’ve been to the Dr’s and not got answers and they won’t entertain me for HRT due to family cancer history. I’m sorry I can’t advise you of anything to help but rest assured you’re not alone with this horrid symptom x

I was told by a GP years ago that they are a symptom of meno and anxiety. Very disconcerting though. I’ve never taken HRT, so unsure whether it helps or not. Distraction worked best for me.

Yes! That was me about 18 months ago. My doctors said it was restless legs. But one put me on hrt and after about 4 months they stopped. Also had severe muscle pain in my back and ribs. That has gone also. but I’ve now got  severe estrogen dominance. But that’s another story   Hope you find a solution. I know first hand how debilitating  they are

Thank you all for your responses and sharing your personal experiences.  It's not an easy road and wishing you all the best in your own journeys!  It is really comforting to know that I'm certainly not the only one out there going through this.  I am a little more hopeful now because I was able to find a Menopause Specialist and will see her in January, and hopefully get some suggestions in terms of the best solution to minimize some of these symptoms.  On a low dose BCP now and it is really not working for me.  I still have all of these crazy symptoms including hot flashes AND have been bleeding for 2 weeks straight.  Uggg.
