Hyperplasia and HRT
« on: November 29, 2022, 04:40:24 PM »

Hi! Results of second biopsy just received and i have no endometrial hyperplasia just disordered proliferative endometrium. Initial biopsy in Jan was Simple EH non atypia. Polyp also removed.  Bleeding stopped around August back to regular monthly 4 or 5 days. No spotting etc.  As I'm in perimenopause I'd like to start the HRT I was prescribed before all this started but Cons wants IUD only which I've refused at the minute. He says that there isn't enough progesterone in the combi HRT to protect the womb lining but there's no EH. Confused? Anyone been in a similar position? Symptoms are aches pains and zero libido! They with prescribe testosterone until my oestrogen is raised. Thank you

Hello jorainbow. I am sorry your post seems to have been missed. What is the situation now for you?

Hi Flossie thanks for the reply I was just about to repost!

I have an appointment with the same gynae in January to discuss HRT. Not convinced he is up to speed with things. My last biopsy showed no hyperplasia with no treatment. The abnormal bleeding has completely stopped. Worst peri symptoms are joint aches and pains and reduced libido.  No hot flushes, mood has been better since the bleeding stopped dipping only pre period. Testosterone borderline. I'm sure they will push mirena again. I'm looking at natural remedies too but confused as to why hrt won't have enough prog to protect my womb.

I’m sure the hrt does have enough oestrogen…. if it didn’t then it wouldn’t be available to prescribe.

I do not understand that either. Unless the gynae is mistaken? Often they do not understand menopause unlike menopause Drs.

It is brilliant the bleeding has stopped, mood has improved and no hot flushes. Is it possible to ask to see a menopause specialist? Maybe your own Gp could ask one about your HRT situation on your behalf.

This is the new meno service I've been referred to 🙄 I might look at private but as I'm technically still under this consultant for the third biopsy which is hopefully also negative, they might not wish to intervene.

Sorry….I meant progesterone in my earlier post 🙈. If it didn’t have enough progesterone to protect the womb then it wouldn’t be available to prescribe. x

I thought you may! I have asked for urogestan or patches rather than the mirena and this is the stumbling block.

Well you couldn't make it up. Just been to the meno clinic. Except it wasn't the meno clinic it was the normal gynae clinic which  wasnt correct.Consultant looked confused then told me I needed 3 negative biopsies before they would consider HRT. Thought I can have the mirena. But not the mirena with some oestrogen. Frustrated amd fed up!

Oh no! What a total disappointment. I imagine they said this as they do not know anything about meno. How frustrating. Will you tell your GP you want a menopause clinic and not gynae?

Hi Flossie. Apparently it hasn't got going yet so I'm being referred again. At least they are foing some bloods to see what levels are  though I think it'll make little difference to the outcome.

This is so frustrating to you. I do not see why you cannot have a low dose of oestrogen to try.

If they had said yes if you have the mirena I would have given that a try with the caveat if it does cause mood issues as in the past it's removed. I emailed Heather Currie when all this kicked off so I'm going to again.

That is a good idea. I am sure you will get good advice.
