Constantly switching strength on HRT patches
« on: November 23, 2022, 11:14:07 PM »

Hi I’m concerned about a friend who had been prescribed patches at 50mg (not sue what medication). She started getting periods again so they put her on 100mg but now she’s not sleeping. So she’s taken to using one 50mg patch for 4 days and the pen swapping to 100mg for 4 days. I’ve  told her I’m worried she’s not giving her body time to adjust and that she doubling and halving her hormone levels so quickly. Am I worrying over nothing? She won’t go back to the HRT nurse

Hello and welcome to the forum. You are such a good friend to join this forum due to concerns about her. I agree with you. Her hormones will be all over the place as she is changing her oestrogen dose like this. It sounds to me like she is on oestrogen alone. If she has a womb she will need progesterone too. I am not sure if you will know if she is taking this too. Maybe you could suggest she joins this forum so she can get encouragement to talk to the HRT nurse from members?
