Neck, shoulder and armpit sores
« on: October 31, 2022, 06:44:30 PM »

 Hi all :)

First post so thanks to anyone who can advise.  :) :)

I’m 42 and last December I started Zoladex after my second laparoscopy to remove endo.  I managed three injections but then stopped in February as I couldn’t cope with the constant neck, shoulder, spine and bone pain.  I was on HRT but was still in agony.

Since stopping Zoladex things have not improved.

I restarted the HRT in April as my gynaecologist thought that maybe my body had not returned to its normal state seeing as I was still getting side effects - stating I was probably now in peri menopause .

I take oestrogel x 2 pumps a day and vaginal 100 utrogestan.

However I’m still in agony and feel rubbish  :-\ :(

The constant neck, shoulder and spine pain is unbearable and I now also get frequent red boil type lumps under my armpit. Sleeping is a challenge too.

I’ve been back and forth to the gynaecologist and we are no further forward.

I do bleed each month and they are horrendously heavy and painful.

The last appointment with the gynaecologist was in august where he suggested I tried a continuous regime of HRT.

This has made things even worse as I ended up with hugely swollen and painful breasts, so I’ve abandoned this and gone back to cyclical.

My main question is, does anyone else experience these symptoms and if so what can be done to stop them and to help the pain (paracetamol, naproxen and codeine don’t help).

Sorry for the long story!

Thanks in advance

Hello BoingBoing and welcome. I am sorry to hear what has been happening.

Do you think the pain is caused by the zolodex injections? I thought the pain would have gone as you stopped the injections.

Is the pain stopping you from sleeping or you just cannot sleep because low oestrogen is often the cause of sleep issues.

I assume you have had a scan or similar to check out the bone pain?

I just thought of something, I wonder if the bone pain could be low oestrogen.

I note you are seeing a gyno. A menopause clinic will have much more knowledge of HRT. Perhaps you could ask your GP to see one?

Thanks for replying!

I thought the pain would stop after binning zoladex, but this hasn’t been the case.

I’ve tried increasing oestrogel and that just gave me migraines.

I had some X-rays of ky neck and shoulders last week so awaiting the results.

I personally think zoladex has buggered everything up and nothing seems to work.

I’m seeing the HRT specialist at my doctors but they seem at a loss too.

You are welcome.

Have you they offered you anything such as physio? I hope the results come back soon and everything is okay.

It is horrid if the zolodex is to blame. I wonder how that could have caused this. I know how helpful it is for endo.
