Prescribed HRT
« on: February 02, 2022, 10:07:03 AM »

Hi have been prescribed Oestrogel 750 pump pack and Utrogestan 100mg. Should I assume that this is as natural as I can get on the NHS. I don't understand what micronised progesterone means. Any help would be more than welcome. I am still menopausal at the age of 61. The other thing that I need is something for libido mine is non existent but Dr's won't prescribe Testosterone with a private prescription. What can I do? Thanks

Hi yes the prescription you’ve been given is as natural as it gets. Some regard it as “the gold standard” hrt. It’s a very good combination … it works for me.

If you’ve got a private prescription for testosterone then you can take it to a chemist and pay the private prescription charge. xx

:welcomemm:  You can get testosterone through a menopause clinic, they will advise the GP on what to prescribe. It can't be given by a GP.

Browse round.  Some find that keeping a mood/food/symptom diary is useful.  Ask away.

Testosterone gel can be prescribed by a GP if they have the confidence to prescribe, which of course most don't!
The women's product Androfemme is only available privately, but a letter from a specialist telling the GP you need a testosterone product should result in a prescription for one of the men's gels. However, I think a few CCGs may not permit even this 🙄.
