Having tough day
« on: October 03, 2022, 02:10:58 PM »

Hey

I am having a tough day today and just wanted to say hi.  Sitting at my desk, attempting to work, crying.

I started having anxiety around 44/45, and for someone who suffered already with low moods this was hard....roll forward to age 49 and I'm still struggling.

I am defo in peri, I have had 3 blood tests over the last 12 months and they are all over the show, one of them was FSH 60 and LH 40, which the doc at that time said I was post meno, but I know I am not as having periods.....

I had a break from HRT as didn't feel it helped in March and now back on it...gone to private doc, my menopause centre, fab doctor.

I am on estradot 50, great little patch.  Since I have put it on my anxiety has gone through the roof, I was just having bad morning anxiety but today its got so bad.

How are we meant to continue to live if we continually feel anxious, low, tearful.  this has been going on 4 years now, I am tired of it all, I just want to feel normal again.

Deeeeeee breathes...sorry just needed to get this off my chest...........been bottling up all day...........

Another GP with no idea  :bang:

Some find that keeping a mood/food/symptom diary of use.  Menopause is literally the last period: those 10-ish years prior can throw up all kinds of symptoms: The Change : does what it says on the tin.

Would you consider an anti-anxiety medication along-side the HRT?  It can take a while for HRT to kick in .... however, when anxiety is intolerable, appropriate medication may help.  This can be stopped after 8-12 months if anxiety eases.

Is the new Doctor a menopause specialist?  How often do you see him?

Hi CLKD

I do keep a mood/symptom diary, I use the balance app.

I am already on anti anxiety meds, 40 mg paroxetine....this is part of the reason I come off it before because my anxiety went up, crying all the time etc...and I haven't even started the progesterone yet...god I am dreading that...didn't get on last time, but have said I will give it 2 attempts...

Yes she is a menopause specialist I am not due to see her again until December, but I can email anytime or request another appointment, but would prefer not to as cost so much money.

She said if I still have symptoms after 2 weeks up to 75 mg then leave for 4 weeks, as she wants to see how I get on with progesterone tablet.

If I still have symptoms after a month to go up to 100 mg.  She did say my testosterone was a little low, not massive but I may benefit from cream.

This has all taken over myself, its awful.

I have 2 sisters and my best friend, they went on tablets and have had no issues whatsoever...I sometimes wonder whats up with me.

Nowt up with you at all.  Every one's hormones are different.  Many don't get on with progesterone, it's time that the medical profession became aware that many require different regimes.

No treatment is worth adding the stress of raised anxiety levels.  What did U need to ease first?  Hysterectomy is major surgery, you may require oestrogen after but can ditch the progesterone.

Hello Emsie. I am really sorry to hear what a terrible time you have been having with anxiety and low mood. It is hard enough having these symptoms without them becoming worse due to menopause.

I just want to say, your sisters and best friend are very very lucky. You only have to browse this forum to know that so many of us do not have an easy menopause. I know it can make you feel odd but you are not alone. If they are unable to understand what you are going through then you have all of us to talk to. :)

You say you are feeling more anxious since starting estradot 50. Would it be an option to try estradot 25? Maybe you need to go slowly and allow your body to adjust to the change in the oestrogen.

Hello Emsie

I am so sorry that you are suffering and I understand completely.
The emotional/psychological symptoms of the menopause are so hard to tolerate.

Is it Newson Health menopause clinic that you are with? Several ladies here use private clinics including this one.

I wish I had a solution for you but I am in a similar situation at the moment ( I cried at the dentists today and that was before I saw the bill lol).

I think Flossieteacake makes a good point and you may have overwhelmed your body with your patch so a lower dose may be better. I am not familiar with the Estradot patch buy you may be able to cut it in half to reduce the dose. Hopefully other ladies will be along soon to advise you.

You are certainly not alone in feeling the way you do and I hope you can take some comfort from that.

Take care and wishing you well.

K.
