Hi Molly
I too am progesterone intolerant. It is interesting that your consultant has had lots of negative feedback re utrogestan, we don’t always get to hear that and are expected just to get on with it.
I have seen specialist both privately and on the nhs to try to deal with this issue. Basically they were prepared to support me in whatever works as long as I had regular scans.
I am post menopausal now (just gone 58) and what I have found is I am better able to tolerate ‘the devils medicine’ if I take it for the least duration possible. This is 7 days vaginally. Interestingly I don’t get on with long cycle, it’s as if my body is still in a cycle and needs a bit of prog but not too much. During the 7 days I am fine for the first 4/5 days, then it builds up in my system and the last 2 days are tough. As are the first few days of withdrawal. Like you I cannot speak properly, I have awful dreams, negative thoughts and if ever I’m going to fall out with my husband it’s then. Then as soon as it’s out of my system I’m back to my old self. I probably loose a week per month with this regime, but while ever I want to stay on hrt (and I do for the many benefits), it’s a necessary evil. Sorry I can’t offer better news but hope this helps.l x
PS I’ve tried every other progesterone going and they were even worse as I had to take them longer
