Are We still having problems with HRT shortages UK?
« on: September 06, 2022, 01:37:54 PM »

Hi Ladies,

are we all still having shortages with certain types of estrogen ? Has it all been resolved and we can all get estrogen gel and everything else easily?

I thought it would be interesting to see where we all are - north south/ midlands etc and if we can all access our HRT now. Are certain areas better than others? Are we being rationed still in some areas?

Yes, Ovestin was in short supply but received today another prescription without any delays.
I am in London.

In Dorset my friend said they were still having trouble getting estrogel  .

I have seen posts on here where some have had to change estrogen types several times .

So is the estrogen gel readily available now?

From the women who answered in the menopause support charity on fb it seems to be 50/50 out of around 200 responses but I imagine more women who are having issues would reply if that makes sense.

I can’t get estradot if I want it but everol seems ok for me though big!

So it appears that there are still shortages then.

I'm in the East Midlands and my last 3 prescriptions for Oestrogel have been available - previously it wasn't and it was pot luck to see what was available! It was Sandrena then Lezzetto and patches.
Pharmacist is putting in my prescription early so it is available and they can sort out an alternative if the gel isn't available. They have really gone above and beyond for several of us hrt users in the village. I popped some biscuits in to say thanks 😊 as it can be a thankless task somedays!

I've not had difficulties with getting HRT in Hampshire so far (only been on it about 4 months) but have had problems with the AD I am on - a couple of times I have been given half the prescription with an IOU slip for the rest from the pharmacy but it usually turns up within about a week.

The annoying thing they don't seem to be able to tell you when it will arrive so you have to keep going back and asking which for me involves driving a few miles into town each time (and obviously it's worse for people who live further out). They know when they are having a delivery but don't seem to know what will be in it. I'm currently owed a box and have tried twice now. It's not urgent by any means as I won't run out for a few weeks but it is frustrating.

I normally get a text when my prescription is ready from Boots, can you ring the pharmacy instead of driving there to check your meds have been delivered.

My pharmacist was unable to get me Lenzetto which I am settled on and seams to suit me now on estrogel which i don't absorb well as have an allergic reaction to patches so fed up with this nonsense
