Advice for new HRT regime ❤
« on: August 23, 2022, 09:34:06 AM »

Hi there lovelies ❤

Im so sorry to keep posting, but I so need some advice again.

I am on 1.5 Sandrena which was increased from 1 to 1.5 about 8 weeks ago and utogestan 200 every 15 days of my cycle for 12 days (hopefully that bit makes sense!).  I have been on sequi HRT since March.

I think it has made a slight difference for the better overall but I still suffer from pounding, racing heart for a week or 2 with hot face... this makes me anxious and feel sick.  If I'm not suffering from that, I feel absolutely exhausted bodily and mind.... it's debilitating. I'm also taking Sertraline 100, which I have taken for about a year and a half, which has improved my mood slightly ( my mood was due to these horrible other symptoms mostly).  I also take fish oil and another women's vitamin.

I spoke to a menopause specialist over email a couple of days ago as I was desperate and she suggested to take 100 utrogestan everyday, rather than 200 for 12 days, to help with the racing heart, anxiety etc.  My symptoms are so up and down, even on hrt 😮  I can't function hardly.  The meno specialist suggested that the regime that I am on may be too up and down for already crazy symptoms.  I still have regularish periods.

The question is, has anyone felt better on the 100 utrogestan daily regime rather the the 200 utrogestan every 12 days?

I have started taking 100 now for 4 days.

I soooooo need your help xxxxx

Hi Unicorn,
Are you definitely absorbing the gel?

Could the pounding  of heart etc be caused by something else; thyroid for example? When was this last checked? Are your iron levels okay? B12 ?

I suppose the issue with a continuous regime when you are still having periods, is that you may experience break through bleeding, which will be a nuisance.

Maybe trial a different anti depressant?

Hope things settle soon, it’s a nightmare all of this I know x x

Is the pounding racing heart something you had before starting any HRT? (One of your peri symptoms of low estrogen?) Or is it something that has started since beginning HRT?

Hi both, thank you so much for your replies ❤

I've had numerous blood tests quite recently, testing thyroid, iron levels etc.  I have had this before starting HRT too.  I feel very alone in all this as my friends don't seem to be suffering too badly and everyone seems to think the HRT should have worked.... I feel a bit of a freak tbh xxxx

Hello Unicorn. I am sad you feel like you are a freak. I promise you, you are not. You only have to read posts on here to see many of us are struggling with symptoms and to find the right HRT.

I think the suggestion of taking 100 Ultrogestan is a good one. You may find that helps you to feel more stable rather then the up and down you are currently feeling.

I personally find I feel worse when I talk to people who do not understand how I feel. Maybe you would find more support posting on here rather then talking to friends. Just a suggestion.  :)

If you had this before HRT, it's probably not caused by the HRT itself (unlike for me!) but is a low estrogen symptom for you.

Maybe you could ask to try a different type of estrogen? Ie patches or Lenzetto?

There is a lot of trial and error in all this. We all have to become biohackers  ::)

Thanks Joziel ❤

I did try the patches, but I kept bleeding on them, they kept falling off and they caused a really nasty rash 😮😮❤

I will keep Lenzetto in mind, thank you xxz

Hi,

magnesium can help with anxiety ( not magnesium oxide) . Most people are deficient. Low  Vitamin D can make your feel exhausted too. Check your B12 - a good level is over 800. Although the NHS says under 200 is deficient- one is normally on the floor by then. Get your ferritin checked - this should be 80 to 150 for a healthy level.  All these can contribute to feeling crap.
Has your thyroid been checked?

Hi Pepperminty ❤ thank you for replying.

I have tried magnesium and I found it helped a bit but then it didn't 😬 I've also tried vitamin D and had lots of blood tests which have turned out to be normal xxx

Glad they all turned out to be normal xx But do check as the NHS normal can be a bit low.

for instance the NHS ferritin range is from 15 to 400 . Below 15 you are anemic- but 1 point above you are ok!
The actual optimal range for women to maintain health and skin health is 80 to 150 .  Low Ferritin causes all sorts of symptoms for fatigue to   exhaustion. But the NHS wont treat until you are on the floor. Mine was 13 and when it went to 19 with treatment they stopped . Until I got a letter sent from a specialist.

I hope you feel better soon,

PMxx
