Sadly not for some of us hypothyroid ladies Suzysunday  ;D  I could stock a fair sized greengrocers, healthfood store & the bird seed & small furry mammal food section of a pet shop with the contents of my kitchen  :D

50g prunes?!  But a token.

Does hypothyroidism cause constipation?

Unfortunately it can, yes, suzysunday.  When optimally treated it should resolve & may do for many patients, but some of us find we are never quite right on thyroid replacement, with one or more symptoms being troublesomely persistent.  Those of us who don't do well on Thyroxine alone & need another thyroid hormone - T3 - as part of our regimen, tend to struggle with persistent symptoms a bit more I think, as it can be hard to a) get T3 prescribed, meaning some patients have to manage without it & b) find the right balance with T4 if we are taking T3 as well.  But that's a whole different topic, so mustn't further derail this thread.
