Mirena and anxiety
« on: July 06, 2022, 08:35:29 PM »

I had a replacement Mirena fitted last Thursday, i am post meno.

Since then i have felt tearful and feeling jittery and anxiety started a couple of days later. I was unable to get hold of any Oestrogel until today. Is it possible the anxious feelings are down to Mirena. I don't remember feeling like that when i had last one but i did start Oestrogel the day it was fitted.

I have been completely off of HRT for 4 weeks prior to coil being fitted as had reaction to adhesive in patches and felt fine.

Mmm this is odd Tinkerbell.
I didn’t think the Mirena could cause these symptoms.

Either, after 4 weeks, your symptoms have returned, or it’s the Mirena.

I would guess it’s the lack of Oestrogen making you feel this way.
Have you started your oestrogel yet?

As you've been OK with a mirena before I would suspect the cause is low oestrogen too. My anxiety returns every time I try to reduce the dose.

If any help, I had a new Mirena last weds and jittery anxious tearful feelings started a few days later! It does give a boost in progesterone. It should, in theory, go away once our bodies get the hang of the fact that’s the levels we’re getting now. Could be the lack of oestrogen too though x

Thank you all, i have used Oestrogel, just one pump a night as that is what GP said to do at first, for last two nights. No tears and less agitation yesterday and today so far.
