madamshome : Having likely now hit menopause,  we can believe that we are into menopause proper i.e. stopping of periods completely, after 12 months without a bleed.  However  ;D Nature sometimes has a final fling which means that we have to begin counting from month 1.

Private health care does not have to be expensive.  It depends on how 'grabbing' the particular Consultant might be.  As well as them having to fund premises as well as equipment.  However ........ I agree ATB, these rising costs have left a nasty taste here too.

A good Company would provide a break down of expenses as well as a Treatment Plan with costs.  I know when I had a stitch removed privately, it cost me a tenner.  I would have done it myself had I been aware!

OMG, I have had more final flings than a bad relationship. At 61, I surely should be fully done but only last month effectively had a full bleed after nearly a year of nothing.
I was fully probed last year due to being an outlier & had a D&C for caution but thankfully nothing discovered.
I have been self insuring for health costs but will now investigate the economics of private cover for HRT in Australia. I don't expect that any sort of public health cover will ensue in my lifetime, we have only just achieved GST free tampons.
Of course, if I instead chose to drug myself with the orthodox pharma cocktail, it would be much cheaper. ???

Another vote for Newson from me. I don't know where I'd be without the possibility of a video consult and their pharmacy posting me HRT. The first GP I saw at my practice said I was too young (at 43yo) to be peri-menopausal. And then added 'and what would I do then, give you HRT?' and laughed.

The next GP at the same practice, would only give me HRT if I had the Mirena coil - because I have a history of mild endo. I didn't want the coil. They were too afraid to offer me any other options and didn't appear to know very much. (Ie they had had to go away and research what to suggest for me and all they could come up with was the coil.)

I made an appointment at a local private menopause clinic but the doctor got cancer and all her appointments were cancelled for about 9 months whilst she went through treatment.

I changed GP practices on the recommendation of a friend and because a doctor there was doing the BMS training, only to find that she knows F-all about HRT and is point blank wrong on many things. Now I'm at a GP practice and don't really have a doctor there because I won't see this one again.

So if it weren't for Newson Health I don't know where I'd be. It's not perfect and it is expensive. But people spend money on holidays and cars and I'd prefer to spend some of that on my health, really. My Newson doctor gives me more than the allotted amount of time per appointment, I never feel rushed. I requested to change testosterone from AndroFemme to Testogel and that was easy and got posted out to me.

Where it is difficult is when you have a real 'outside the box' problem - like my current situation with estrogen and pulsing hands and feet and blood pressure and palps - the fact is that most doctors aren't going to be able to usefully help me with that, but I have to pay £250 to discover that fact....

Who knows how long it will take for this study to filter into GP consciousness but = some progress at least:-
