Best HRT for someone who is sensitive to progesterone
« on: June 25, 2022, 07:06:03 PM »

Im currently having a break from hrt due to a flare up of my tinnitus.

In a mths time dr wants to put me on evorel conti patches but ive heard they can cause sleep issues.

Any advice on what hrt is the best to use for someone whose a bit sensitive to progesterone.

Im a bit worried about the synthetic progesterone in the patches.

Thanks x

From what I have seen on this forum, everybody will react differently to HRT. My advise is to try the Evorel Conti. If they do not agree with you then you can stop but at least you will know and can either rule that one out or you have found one you can tolerate.  :)

Totally agree with Flossie.
Everyone reacts differently to HRT.

There’s no ‘ best one ‘ unfortunately. The best Hrt is the regime which manages your symptoms, allowing you to get on with life.

If you find it, do let me know! 🙂

Hi Discogirl

If you know you are sensitive to progesterone you are right to be wary of evorel conti.

The best regime would be a sequi regime and that way you have at least a couple of weeks on oestrogen only and are progesterone free.

Hope this helps x

Is Evorel conti a progesterone?  I thought it was an oestrogen.  The only progestrrone I've heard of is Utrogestan.

Hi Discogirl

Yes it is fine, I’m post menopausal too.  Lots of us who are post are on a sequi regime as it minimises the negative side effects of progesterone.

I use evorel patches for oestrogen,  and utrogestan (vaginally) for prog. On this regime I only get a few bad days a month and that’s on the prog withdrawal. I tried evorel conti but couldn’t tolerate the progesterone noresthisterone in it. Please do ask if you have any more questions. The ladies on here are very helpful, and one of us will know the answer to your question x

KarineT at the top of this site is a menu tab. If you click on it you can find all the different types of hrt to educate yourself x

So, from what I understand, Evorel is a combination of Oestrogen & Progesterone in a patch.  This eliminates the need to take oral progesterone such as Utrogestan. Is Evorel available on the NHS?

Yes it is. You can even get Evorel which is oestrogen alone.  :)

So that would be very good  if you are intolerent to Utrogestan

There are other options if a person cannot take utrogestan. Some prefer a combined patch which means it has both oestrogen and progestogen. Then you can also take oestrogen and progesterone separately.

So from what I've read evorel sequi would be a good option.

Is this type of HRT okay for someone post meno, whose obviously not had a period in years?

And also how do I take it and would going on that give me a bleed?

also, can I just check to anyone who has taken this, what are the side effects like.

Sorry I post so much, I just have so many questions!!!

Thanks xx
