Desperate
« on: June 22, 2022, 07:54:41 PM »

To be honest im so low.

Was on Patches and progesterone. But my tinnitus which went before hrt has come back.

Dr has took me off the progesterone orally and is putting me on evorel conti patches instead.

Im just thinking about coming off hrt altogether in case its the hrt thats caused the tinnitus to come back.

Im so confused very low and desperate

Any advice would be grateful

What symptoms prompted you to take HRT?
Have any of them been alleviated?

Maybe you are progesterone intolerant? If that could be the case, be careful of the Conti patch, as it contains norethisterone ( well known to cause low mood).

In truth, it’s tough. Much trial and error with a ton of patience thrown in for good measure.

Perhaps try coming off HRT for a bit. See how you feel?

Big hugs x

Hi discogirl

Tinnitus not at all nice and I think a lot of us had it and probably do so now to varying degrees.
It’s not life threatening and annoying as it is, it is useful not to focus on it as a symptom that should dictate your hrt.

I still have it now but 80% less at the moment.
Interestingly today I have had none at all but now responding to your thread I’m aware of it. The power of the mind is very much at play in tinnitus I feel.

My old Go, who also had tinnitus told me that it is very much connected to anxiety plus other triggers. When I asked him what triggered it for him he said ‘stress, thinking about it and too much red wine!’

Thanks for your kind thoughts ann.

I have read some interesting articles regarding vit b12 deficiencies.

What side effects were you getting with the evorel conti patches ann xxx

What's wrong with stopping for 4-6 weeks to see if the tinnitus eases?  There is a UK Charity for support with tinnitus.  As oestrogen levels drop the Eustachian tubes may narrow due to lack of muscle - I've had tinnitus for years, I suddenly realise that ear/s having a ringing inside  ::).  Fortunately not continuously.

People who went to loud music gigs or played in groups may well suffer.

In the meantime, keep a mood/food/symptom diary to chart progress.  Let us know!
