I'm not sure whether its ok to post this & if I'm in the wrong section, so apologies if I've got it wrong but i need to vent or I'll cry.
My son, whom i love to distraction & we are very close & speak everyday. He lives with his gf & has a fab job/life.
Anyway, he hasn't so much as bought me a mum's day present in over 4 yrs & no card either. The present i can do without but a card? That would be special to me. Now, he has never not gotten his dad, my husband a Father's day card or a lovely present. He just dropped up a card/present & it took all i have not to cry. My husband was watching me but i smiled & made my excuses & pretended i needed the loo.
My son is the kindest, loving son but why i get nothing, i don't know.
Reminds that my parent's were/are the same. My sisters would get special gifts for their special bdays but I've never bern given that extra thought on my 18th, 21st, 40th bday....just a card with £40 in it.
I'm sorry for sounding entitled & i should get stuff because its sounds selfish. But i feel sad. Maybe its because my hormones are crazy today as I'm ovulating lol

Hello Sheri. I do not think you sound entitled at all. I too would be hurt by this. It is hurtful for your husband to get a card but not you. I wonder if your son has the idea you would not want a card? I really am sorry.

Awww I'd feel the same. My two boys are younger, but sometimes I get really upset by the lack of thought.

But, and it's no excuse, but boys definitely do not think like we do - and I usually get upset about it when I'm hormonal. U know?!?!

I see. I am sorry. I cannot understand it either but it does not mean he does not love you. I can see it is triggering as it reminds you of your parents. I would feel just like you are.

I think that it's a 'man thing'.  My friend married someone from Asia where they never celebrate birthdays etc..
