Hi Sheri

The last AD I was taking was Amitriptyline, never did any good and slowly weaned myself off. Never taken Sertreline so can’t help you with that.

You could start a new thread asking about it. X

I've just been sent a metro article on Kaftrio & the mental health problems it brings.
It mentioned mostly women are having suicidal thoughts, extreme anxiety & depression since starting it.
Most have reduced or stopped it. Think i now have to make a decision whether HRT is the right course for me when maybe my hormones are ok & i might not be perimenopausal & kaftrio is the culprit.
I don't know which way to turn. Phoned my CF nurse who is getting in touch with my CF dr to discuss it with me.
All i want is some peace mentally. I wish i could know for def if i am in perimenopause or not but Gynae says there no actual test to determine this.
I'm on progesterone this week, does anyone know if it will be ok to stop it suddenly & will i still get a period or should i stay on it until my period comes.
I'm going to do a trial & stop HRT,  reduce kaftrio & see what happens. I've emailed my gynae for his input but thought, I'd ask on here too.

Morning:

peri-menopause is The Change when our hormones wax and wane, sometimes for years  ::).  For those with ovaries we notice changes: less/more periods, gaps of months sometimes with a sudden reappearance  >:(.  Mine disappeared then I would get pre-menstrual feelings and they would return for a few months.  Then in 2002 I realised that I hadn't had a period ..........

Luckily apart from the feeling of water running down my back after my bath and intense itching sometimes all over: which didn't last for more than 4-5 months : I've been OK.  Then vaginal atrophy crept up which is sorted with appropriate treatment.

Menopause is the last period.  End of.  Mother Nature however  >:(  ::).  When ladies have chemo or hysterectomy, they can be plunged into menopause within weeks.  HRT should be discussed B4 treatment but so many oncologists think that we shouldn't be prescribed it after treatment.

Is there a support group for the Kaftrio?  R U being monitored by the practitioner who prescribed it?

My symptoms are or was brain fog, fatigue, crippling anxiety & dizzy spells that made me fumble about & even fall resulting in black eyes, bruised legs etc. Since starting HRT my brain fog/dizzy spells have practically gone.  Still a work in progress with anxiety but its calmer. My general mood has got better...so much so i actually laugh now & its not false lol
Is that because of HRT? Does it mean i am in perimenopausal?
I'm sorry CLKD, feels like I'm using you as a sounding board. I shouldn't be burdening you with my ailments. Your very kind in replying & offering advice.
My CF dr is seeing a vertex specialist. Vertex make kaftrio. He's spoken to gynae who said, he strongly believes its 60% peri/30% kaftrio & 10% living with cf taking its toll on my mental health. He's very precise in her percentages 🤣🤣

I think you’re definitely in peri Sheri, the proof is there in that a lot of you symptoms are resolving.
Your gynae sounds good and it’s great he’s talking to your cf specialist.

Might be good idea if you start a new thread called Cystic Fibrosis and HRT just in case there are other members with this condition on our forum. Worth a go? X
