static clothes solution needed
« on: June 20, 2022, 07:47:13 PM »

Hi ladies

I'm useless in the clothes dept.  Well, that's not totally true I did work in a fashion dept for a while, but I'm useless when it comes to me  ::)

anyway, I've got to be somewhere on Weds and again at the weekend, and I'm wondering if anyone knows how to be sure that new clothes do not get static when wearing them.  I know to use fabric conditioner, but one is a suit and I'm not really up for putting it through the cleaners when it's new.  I do usually wash through new clothes but it's a suit, looks lovely as it is and I'm menopausal  ;D Is there a spray or anything that I don't know about?

All help gratefully received at this point lol

What underwear do you have on at the same times?  What is the. material, also what is 'in' the suit?  If it's a mix there may be enough non natural fibres which make it sparky.

I carry a lot of static, so much that I cannot wear a wrist watch as they simply stop!  Years ago DH and I couldn't kiss due to the 'modern' fibres  ::) which were quite painful on pulling apart  :o

I never use conditioner now.  If a machine has a good rinse cycle, any smell etc. will disappear.  So much for the advert which states that the conditioner perfume remains ..... yep, if the item isn't worn/washed ;-)

I will be interested in finding out any solutions.  Operating theatres have a mat outside to draw static .........

Hairspray apparently works well. I’ve never used it, but I’ve read somewhere it works well.
Maybe use an odourless one. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yes I can second hairspray, but spray it on the reverse of the fabric at some distance.  Always works for me.

Thanks all, I've ordered some spray on amazon that is anti static.  I mean I probably won't have a problem, but I remember years ago..   ;D
