Brutal Mirena cramps
« on: May 31, 2022, 09:11:48 PM »

Mirena went in at 11am.
Cramps and  bloating are brutal!
Like severe period pain.

Someone tell me that it gets better?

Hi Nas
Just wanted to send a hug as I know you have been through it lately. I don’t know anything about the mirena but I expect as with all procedures that are invasive your body reacts. I may be offered one too as having 3rd hysteroscopy next week to investigate post menopausal bleeding and increased womb lining. Hopefully your symptoms will settle down soon, get plenty of rest if you can. X

Thanks Queen 🌸
You are right of course and a settling in period is needed now.

It just seems that every school break i get, it’s spent dealing with a menopause issue, every time! Easter it was bladder, Christmas was bleeding and so on. I’m so jealous of my colleagues who are oblivious to the perils of hormones!

Oh well, onwards and upwards! 🤞

Hi Nas

I tried reaping earlier but it wouldn't work, so hope this does 😂

Ive had the mirena for many years and had no problems at all( no bleeding, no bloating etc)
my last insertion 2021, I was told is a new make and takes time to settle down, I'd say 3 to 6 months for me but part of that was the hrt I was on too

Hooe your feeling better soon

I don’t know anything about the mirena, just wanted to send a virtual hug and hope it gets better real soon. So sorry you’re always having to deal with something on your time off!

Sorry to hear you are in pain, Nas. I have not tried the mirena but my friend does and finds it brilliant. I really hope the cramping passes soon.

Thanks all.
I will be okay im sure.

I’ve also got a rather painful trapped nerve in my left arm
( which I use) so feeling rather fed up today.

Anyway, time for a cuppa and a kit kat I think 💪🙂

Ouch. I hate trapped nerve pain. A cup of tea and chocolate is a great idea.  :)

I will be honest, I don’t feel great, a bit spaced out, foggy head and jittery. How much of this is Mirena and how much is Oestrogen too low, I don’t know. I just feel ‘ odd’ and need to get it fixed before Monday.

Have made the fatal mistake of googling Mirena side effects and not sure I like what  I’m reading  :-\

I am sorry you are feeling this way. I can understand you feeling anxious. From what I have read it can take time for the body to adjust to it. I wonder if some of what you are feeling could also be anxiety. I know you were anxious about starting it too. For me, when I read up on side effects of anything I feel I have them all.

Thanks Flossie,
Yes anxiety seems to have kicked in a bit.
I suppose it’s because I know I need Oestrogen and I can’t seem to tolerate what I need, without bleeding. Mirena is like my last option really.

Trying hard to feel normal and focused, but just not today  :'(

I wonder if you may be putting pressure on yourself? If you are thinking you must tolerate this no matter what, it could make you panic. I know for me I need to take it hour by hour. Maybe if you tell yourself you will just get through the next hour?

Right again Flossie.
Seems to be a perpetual cycle right now.

Each half term at work, is spent just  ‘ getting through’.

Then comes the break ‘ phew’ .

And then starts the menopause issues to tackle!

Christmas holidays - bleeding constantly

Half term break - Stomach cramps

Easter holidays- bladder

Half term- Mirena side effects

🤦‍♀️😥

That sounds so tough for you. No fun being poorly when it is meant to be a time you can relax.
