You need to stay on HRT for life if you want all the protective health benefits it gives: Hugely reduced risk of osteoporosis, dementia, bowel cancer, heart disease (biggest killer of women), and more. As soon as you stop it, within 1-2 years your risks will be the same as if you'd never taken it.
I intend to stay on it for life.
It is a relatively new thing in human development for women to be living as long as they are. We are not really 'built' to live so long without hormones.
