Vaginal prolapse
« on: May 15, 2022, 03:13:03 PM »

I have an undiagnosed prolapse - and it is so painful,  like a constant dragging feeling. I have the marina coil and use oestrogen gel. I went into menopause at 44, am now 47. And down below has dried up in the last 2 months, with. Prolapse and first ever urine infection. ! Help. Does anyone else know what a prolapse feels like and what help is available

I think you probably need vaginal oestrogen as it sounds as if you have atrophy based on you being dry and having a urine infection.  The atrophy will make a prolapse feel worse.  You really need to be examined to find out what sort of prolapse you have, and should be referred for pelvic floor physiotherapy and possibly a gynaecologist depending on the degree of prolapse.  I have a prolapse and atrophy and am keeping it at bay with the use of vaginal oestrogen and exercises given to me by a pelvic floor physiotherapist.   If there is a long wait to see a NHS pelvic floor physiotherapist it may be worth paying to see one privately.  I paid £60 for a one hour consult and it was well worth it.

Hi Grace74
Sorry to hear you have this. I understand as I had a prolapse and had surgery for it recently.
I second what Haydo has said here in that you need to see someone who specialises in prolapse to see which type you have. Could be rectocele (bowel), uterine (womb) or bladder. Physio and exercises plus topical vaginal oestrogen can really help. Mine was severe hence the surgery so you may not need that. Happy to answer any questions in private message if it helps you. X

Hi ladies, I’ve got a similar question to ask, has anyone experienced bowel prolapse?
The reason why I asked this is I have a fissure. Had it start July 2020, I was only gold to use pile medication. It stopped bleeding and worst of the pain gone after a month. Since then I can poop without being in pain (I cope by lying down for 10 minutes). Fast forward to October 2021 it tore again, been referred to surgeon. Got put on Rectogesic for 8 weeks. Since then it’s gone really bad two more times. I’m seeing a surgeon on Wednesday and I will be asking for Botox. If Botox fails it’s an operation, the surgeon told me if I could live with it then do so. Apparently the risk from the operation is in he own words “that in 30 years I could have a bowel prolapse”

So back to my question, how bad is it to have a bowel prolapse? Could I live with it? I’m at the point of view I would prefer a better pooping life for next 30 years, and I’m 47 years old in 30 years I will be 77, will I really care at that stage? Thanks again

Hi Lyncola

I had a rectocele (bowel prolapse) this led to difficulty pooping which was not my finest hour!😬
I do not regret having surgery at all and it has fixed the problems I had.
I don’t think my prolapse was extremely severe but it was severe enough for me to seek help. I was told it would just get worse as time went on so it may be worth seeing another doc to get a second opinion.
It is like any surgery, painful to begin with but the painkillers will help without a doubt. Hope this is helpful. X

I have a grade 2 cystocele (bladder) and rectocele prolapse.  At present I manage both with exercises and topical oestrogen. I have been offered an operation to repair both, but have decided to leave it for the time being, as neither give me too much trouble at present, although it is very important that I don’t get constipated or strain.    If they worsen as time goes on then I will have an operation.  A rectocele is different to a rectal prolapse so you might want to ask your surgeon for some more info as to exactly what he means.   Best of luck for your meeting with the surgeon.  Let us know how you get on.

Thanks Louise and Haydo :)
It’s funny Haydo you said something very similar to my doctor. I asked her, her thoughts on bowel prolapse, she said she has seen any of her patients that have had that operation have that problem. But she also pointed out that it’s not thirty years later.
She told me “to question where that information came from and asked to see it”
Hopefully Botox will fix the problem and I won’t need the operation? And I will inform you what happens. My biggest fear at the moment it has been to bad the last couple of days and hopefully they can still see there is a problem?

So had my doctor surgery appointment, he is the head surgeon. He still won’t do Botox or the operation. I’m not bad enough yet. He said both the Botox and operation are only short cures. It can still happen again and they can’t do Botox or the operation again again.
So at the moment carry on and use whatever I can to cope.
I told him who the chemist got up me because I’m using to much Rectogesic. And he just laughed and told me that they are over acting and it’s not a problem and him giving a name of a another cream that a can use, still got to stick it up my ass, but it will numb the area to take away the pain.
I need to start investing money into rubber gloves with how much I will be using.

My 75 year old Mum has been on HRT, estrogen only after a hysterectomy at 40. She recently stopped after giving in to her doctor always saying she needed to stop and she had the beginnings of a prolapse! She went to a doctor who said, oh I’ve seen worse and we can’t get you referred just yet!! She started her estrogen again and it resolved. That’s my only experience with this sort of thing. She had a uterine prolapse with her first baby too.

Did your surgeon give you any clarity on the bowel prolapse prediction?  Presumably you will have the operation when and if your fissure gets worse.   Why did he mention this before if he’s now telling you it’s not bad enough for Botox or an operation?  The things we have to put up with!

No talk on bowel prolapse prediction, that was four months ago when I saw him. I think they will say anything just to put you off. I understand what they are saying, that if they just did the operation and in two years I tear again, they just can’t keep going in a cutting. Oh well, my poop was very painful this morning, but after 10 minutes of lying down I’ve been fine for the rest of the day.
I did see this cream advertised on the internet, and they reckoned that it’s heals fissure. $50 from American, I’ve got nothing to lose but $50 maybe I should try to find it again and give it a try?

Lyncola, what was the name of the cream? My friend bought some… it had rave reviews… it really burnt her skin. Be careful.

As the CRS if you can try diltiazem. It’s a different type of medication than nitro, it’s a calcium channel blocker. I had good results with it for a fissure I had years ago.

Hi Suzysheep it’s Pranicure 5 Ointment, I’m going to order tomorrow. You can only buy from their website it’s not sold anywhere else. It’s supposed to be great for piles, fissure and anything anus. They will refund you within 6 months if your not happy, you just have to send them a email. They recon that only 2% will ask for a refund. And they got 5 stars from over 1600 reviews.
It comes from America so it could take a while to get to Australia. Once I get it and test it I will report if it’s any good. As I said to my husband I e got nothing to lose
