Kliovance
« on: May 18, 2022, 08:39:14 AM »

Hi, new to here!, so i'm 50 not had a period for over a year, started getting hot flushes, night sweats all the horrible symptoms, was prescribed Kliovance with pretty much no follow up or reviews as my GPs are absolutely useless! The only symptom it has helped with is hot flushes which have gone, but still feel absolutely dreadful with up and down emotions/mood swings/irritability/sadness/anxiety/tired all the time...you name it! Been tking it for about a year btw.

Anyone expereinced the same on this, I don't think it's working at all tbh so back to useless GP to discuss!  ??? >:(

Hello Nutty and welcome to the forum. As your GP is not knowledgeable in HRT you can ask to be referred to a menopause clinic. The Kilovance does not sound like it suits you as you should not be experiencing these symptoms after a year of being on it. It sounds like you just have not found the right HRT but do not worry as it can take time to find one that suits.

Hello Nutty. Sounds as though the estrogen dose is helping as your flushes are gone.  The irritability, mood swings etc may well be that you don’t get on well with the progestogen element of Kliovance which is Norethisterone. Many people have difficulty with this one.  Unfortunately it is trial and error to find the right one. You could give Femoston a try. Same estrogen but different progestogen (dydrogesterone) which is much ‘kinder’ and generally better tolerated . Or you could try Bijuve, again same estrogen but with micronised progesterone x

Hi Nutty and welcome to the forum,  It does sound as though Kliovance is not suiting you.

I'm post menopausal by more than 5 years, I also took Kliovance and Kliofem which my GP prescribed, which I took for more than 2 years and still struggled with night sweats,
mood swings, low mood, irritability and anxiety whilst taking this. It helped the hot flushes and that was it. So I was referred at my request to a menopause clinic, where I saw a menopause specialist,
who told me the synthetic progestogen - Norethisterone in this particular oral HRT can make the horrible symptoms of low mood, irritability, sadness, and anxiety worse,
particularly if you have a past history of PMS.
So she changed my HRT to Oestrogel and Utrogestan and I can honestly say I felt a huge such improvement in my symptoms very quickly and then I was lucky enough to also have Testosterone
added in and this was the final piece I feel to my HRT jigsaw.  If you can be referred to a menopause clinic then this is definitely something that I can recommend.
