I prefer to keep the prescription and the testing separate. I see no point in comparing my results to a range applicable to women of my age who aren’t supplementing Testosterone so I’d rather not risk that happening.
I feel exactly the same, my gp would love to find a get out clause. If they did the same with oestrogen we'd all be 'within normal range, no treatment required'  >:(.
My biggest concern is that the surgery not the GP bring in a new process applicable to all women on T in order to reduce spending. Or that my actual GP leaves/retires/gets replaced etc.
I’m still looking for a specialist as I would like to remove this concern although I don’t think that we should have to go private to access T.

Sheila totally agree with you on the levels... if I was on the low outside of the acceptable E range I would probably not be on this planet anymore... my symptoms of "low" E were so strong and debilitating when being on circa 300 (not sure if it makes a difference that I'm early 40s) and having two GPs tell me I was absolutely fine and it couldn't be hormone related when I knew it wasn't the case was traumatising. The only benefit the range has for me is in giving me an indication of how high not to go (because I tend to need my E to be on the high side)

The doctor in the programme hit the nail on the head regarding testosterone:-

"We lose 3 hormones at menopause but only replace 2 - whose bright idea was that?

No doubt a man!

Probably due, at the time, to lack of knowledge.  After all, the studies being carried out are in the US.

Progesterone Kit often upsets users  :-\

I just watched this programme. It was very informative. I really hope GPs watch it to learn about menopause. The other thing that disappointed me was they surveyed women aged 44-54. I think this continues the idea menopause does not start younger. I have had to fight so hard to be believed I am in menopause and came up with a lot of dismissal due to being 'too young'.

I’m not sure where the information came from about Utrogestan tablets. She seemed to imply that you can’t get it prescribed in the whole of E. Anglia! I’m in Suffolk and I get it from the GP - just had to ask, no problem!

Hello again ladies.

I am in East Anglia and I have never had any trouble getting Utrogestan from my GP. When I first asked for it the doctor was unfamiliar with the product name and it wasn't listed on her formulary. The ladies here had noted that it is listed as Micronized Progesterone so I asked the doctor to search again and she found it.
I wonder if that is still a problem and would explain the difficulties that Davina had on the programme.

Take care ladies.

K.
