Those with a Mirena- who fits it?
« on: April 30, 2022, 07:33:10 AM »

Hi again.
Im going to revert back to my 75 patch after my disaster with femeston Conti ( ongoing bladder issues, loss of ‘ bits’ etc, libido etc ).

Thinking of going down the Mirena route now.
Both MS and gynae have suggested this to me, but until now,I have resisted.

How do I go about getting one fitted ( bearing in mind I have this blasted BC history! ) Is it gynae/ GP?

Thanks

A Gynae fitted mine at hospital. My friend got hers done at the local sexual health clinic as she said it's for contraception.
Think it's dependent on what your doctor's surgery can offer too.

My GP surgery do them. But when i went to get mine changed last year GP couldn't remove it and moved me on to a different health centre to do it. I chickened out and am now using Femseven patches until i feel brave to face appointment.

Hi

Mine was fitted by Gynae at same time as my hysteroscopy, but there is a nurse at my GP surgery who can also fit them (although there is usually a bit of a wait to get an appointment with her). Hope you manage to get it sorted soon xx

Nas, if you have a choice I would get a gynaecologist to fit as they can get you into a better position, have a better visual (!!) and therefore I reckon quicker/ less discomfort. Especially if your cervix / womb tilted etc etc.

Thanks all.
Been in touch with my specialist. She’s arranging it all at Liverpool women’s hospital, as well as a thorough MOT of ‘ bits’ which have upped and left me!

Please god let the Mirena work, so I can take my high dose patch and resume my life! 🤞🤞🤞🤞

That’s good to hear Tinkerbell
May I ask, did you experience much pain or bleeding after insertion?
Does it maintain the health of your endometrial lining?
