I haven’t encountered this exact issue at Newson yet, but I was going to start a post as I haven’t been happy with some aspects of the very expensive care. The prescription charges are a lot, £37, and as a new patient, despite asking, I haven’t been helped understanding how long things are meant to last. I expect if I’m seeing her every 3 months to get a prescription for hormones that last until the next appointment, but I keep having to get more just before and then last time she lowered the dose so I have a packet at higher dose of patch that I can’t use. Last time I said, I’ve just ordered more Utrogestan so I won’t get charged for what you prescribe today, do I need more testosterone? How long does it last? She said I didn’t, it lasts 4 months and I had already been prescribed two, this was at my 3rd appointment after 6 months with them. Well it didn’t last and just over 30 days later I had to order more and pay another prescription charge. It’s quite hard to measure and calculate myself as I’m trying to get rid of my brain fog and I’m already on thyroid meds that I’m reducing at the mo. So perhaps they expect us to know when we need things and order in such a way as we don’t incur repeat charges, but I think if I’m seeing her so regularly actually she should work it out. Especially as I specifically asked. I’ve seen her 3 times but paid 5 prescription charges, I had one refunded after I pointed it out to them. I know compared to their fee it’s only £37, but added to the wasted patches it’s over £50 and I really can’t afford to waste the money I’ve saved for years to see them. Anyone else have this issue or is it a me problem?! I got an email saying they were changing their prescription charges so we don’t pay more than £70 a year I think but it hasn’t kicked in clearly as I’ve paid £74 so far this year! I also asked all this about hormones how long they last etc after the first appointment and the reception email reply was pretty dismissive.
