I’m pretty sure 2mg ( 4 pumps) is the max dose.

Yes, having a tough time again..
Thanks for good wishes. I just wonder when this is going to end? I’m 50 and life just revolves around hormones right now  :'(

Hello again Nas.

My doctor at NH said that six pumps would be acceptable which seemed like an awful lot!
I didn't want to slather myself in that much gel so I was switched to Sandrena sachets as they have less volume.  I have also noticed that Sandrena gel dries much faster than Oestrogel.

I used slightly less than two sachets this morning so I am continuing to reduce. Still wobbly mood wise but no worse than I have been.

I understand your frustration. I started HRT at age fifty seven and I am sixty five now and hormones also dominate my life, it's exhausting.

Take care and I hope you have some improvement soon.

K.

Hi Kathleen,
Yes six pumps is a lot of skin coverage I agree.
Sandrena isn’t bad and I like the little sachets.
You would probably be okay on the 2 sachets or so, it’s quite concentrated isn’t it? Carry on and see where you get to I would. Sometimes less is best and bodies can accommodate.

Kathleen, seriously, I am at the end of my tether with it all.
Always second guessing, walking on thin ice, trying to keep afloat. I feel hard don’t by!

Anyway, you take care too.

I haven’t encountered this exact issue at Newson yet, but I was going to start a post as I haven’t been happy with some aspects of the very expensive care. The prescription charges are a lot, £37, and as a new patient, despite asking, I haven’t been helped understanding how long things are meant to last. I expect if I’m seeing her every 3 months to get a prescription for hormones that last until the next appointment, but I keep having to get more just before and then last time she lowered the dose so I have a packet at higher dose of patch that I can’t use. Last time I said, I’ve just ordered more Utrogestan so I won’t get charged for what you prescribe today, do I need more testosterone? How long does it last? She said I didn’t, it lasts 4 months and I had already been prescribed two, this was at my 3rd appointment after 6 months with them. Well it didn’t last and just over 30 days later I had to order more and pay another prescription charge. It’s quite hard to measure and calculate myself as I’m trying to get rid of my brain fog and I’m already on thyroid meds that I’m reducing at the mo. So perhaps they expect us to know when we need things and order in such a way as we don’t incur repeat charges, but I think if I’m seeing her so regularly actually she should work it out. Especially as I specifically asked. I’ve seen her 3 times but paid 5 prescription charges, I had one refunded after I pointed it out to them. I know compared to their fee it’s only £37, but added to the wasted patches it’s over £50 and I really can’t afford to waste the money I’ve saved for years to see them. Anyone else have this issue or is it a me problem?! I got an email saying they were changing their prescription charges so we don’t pay more than £70 a year I think but it hasn’t kicked in clearly as I’ve paid £74 so far this year! I also asked all this about hormones how long they last etc after the first appointment and the reception email reply was pretty dismissive.

Most GPs will prescribe on the nhs based on the specialists recommendation so it might be worth adking. The exception is androfemme as it isn't licensed for NHS use. If you have patches that are now too strong you can cut a piece off to give yourself a lower dose.

Would NH prescribe a T that you can get on the nhs? They may not as they're male ones not female. I use Tostran though I have a battle every time I need a new prescription.

Hello lovely ladies,

I’ve seen a number of specialists to try and get help with optimising HRT.

Newson Health seem to be the most knowledgable from the ones I tried  but in my experience they appear to be indundated.

It does sadden me that there are so many of us women are suffering. I hope that things improve and there is more support in general.

Sending you all love and hugs xxx
