As well as letting the BMA and Dr Currie know?

It's jobs worths.  Financial constraints. Lack of knowledge .........  but mainly, not being prepared to discuss face2face with the patient in case the GP is actually in the wrong?

Make sure that the menopause specialist raises the issue?

Our surgery won't take repeat prescription requests over the 'phone, unless 1 reads the small print on their web-site which gives a time between 5 and 6 p.m.  >:(

Hello ladies.

Postmeno3 - I am so sorry that you have had all this disruption and stress.

Back when I was using Oestrogel I noticed that I would be given different bottles of the gel every time I collected my prescription.  Some ladies were reporting a change in symptoms when using different gels so I was keen to get the same product every time instead of taking pot luck with whatever the pharmacist dispensed.
I decided to write 'Besins gel only please' on my prescription when I handed it in to the chemist. This worked and every time thereafter I got the gel that I wanted. I was about to leave the shop one day when the pharmacist came running up to the counter and said that she wanted to be sure that she had given me the right meds because 'there was a note specifying a particular product'. She checked my bag and I went on my way. It occurred to me that she may have thought that my GP or a nurse had either written the note or  had insisted that it was added to my form and I wondered if the instruction would have carried the same weight if they had known it was just little old me being insistent.

Obviously my problem was less serious than yours but if you can find a way to make your preferences as official as possible, or even just appear as official, you might have some success in the future.

Wishing you well.

K.

Quite shocking what you had to go through. A very timely survey backs you up completely, article in the Mail today.
I've included the link but don't know whether it will work but well worth a read!

Rewind! Went to Boots, not there after all. Surgery was supposed to call me to let me know and haven't. It's now on order, but they have no idea when delivery will arrive and are closed tomorrow and Monday. They are "hopeful" for Tuesday. I tried the other two pharmacies who shoved the prescription back at me announcing abruptly, "Never heard of it." Charming! I should not have cancelled the online order now and might try that again tomorrow, but with the holiday week-end, the process will not be standard, even with the mail. This is precisely why I order the repeat in good time and had the declines not taken place, there's every likelihood this would never have arisen. It is utterly appalling.

What a flaming nightmare for you.  Sometimes it feels as though everything is too bloody hard.  The stress these situations cause is really bad.  I hope you get sorted x
