Utrogestan update and advice pls
« on: April 02, 2022, 06:57:37 AM »

Hi all

So I took my first tablet orally st 9pm last night.

Oh my word...I slept too heavy, nightmares all night long....very frightening ones too. And I'm lat here now feeling so whacked that I don't want to take it again tonight.

I heard on here people taking it vaginally? Does that prevent the psychological symptoms?

Please hell!

Hi Vicky
So sorry you have had such a terrible night. I notice that You were worried about starting the utrogestan on another thread, and so I wonder if you reaction was partly due to your anxiety.
I say this because I too worry about possible side effects which I read about! Which then makes them happen :(
Not sure of the solution, except to maybe try for a few nights and see if things improve.
Sending a big hug, feeling so awful is really terrible.

Hi hopeful

No I wasn't worried at all.....but last night was bad!

Thats  why I'm wondering if taking it vaginally would be better as in for the tiredness and anxiety? Xx

Taking it vaginally avoids the digestive issues some people get. I don't think it will fix the psychological issues but it might be worth trying. I get fatigue on it, it's a common side effect. I haven't heard of it causing nightmares though so perhaps that was your anxiety. If you want to use it vaginally just push it up as far as you can before you go to bed.

The nightmare was bad! Dreamt that I was at work on a ward and a team said .....sorry this is the only thing for you now....it was to put me in a big chair and give me a needle...as in death row! I ran off and my mum called an estate agent to get me a safe house! Bizarre I know! Woke up in alarmed state ....then it carried on! Police were in my dream the lot! All trying to hunt me down! Was awful....I never dream that way xx

Hi I did find it zonked me for the first couple of months but I did get used to it. Now I don’t notice any difference when I take it or not.

I do find I have a lot more vivid dreams nowadays, mostly on the bad sweat nights (which come and go). I don’t notice that the progesterone causes that per se.

On an aside, 200mg is the regular dose if you are taking it two weeks on and two weeks off. Are you only taking 100mg?

.....from 1st of every month. I'm also on 4 pumps oestrogel. I do the oestrogel around 4.30pm then the tablet before bed... is that about right? I took it at 9pm xx

Are you having regular scans to check the lining is thin? As you're on 4 pumps gel 10 days x 100mg may well be insufficient. It's even worse if you take it orally as less gets to the uterus. The standard dose 200mg x 12 days, days 15-26.
