Hi ladies, I’m after some advice re post menopausal bleeding.
I’m 60 and had my last period in Nov 2016. I started hrt last April on gel and utrogestan having gone private as my gps wouldn’t prescribe. I was on 2 pumps of gel but after a blood test my levels were still low and after a consultation with my specialist I upped my dose to 3 pumps. My specialist also wrote a letter for me to give to my drs and they agreed to prescribe it for me but with a lot of accompanied doom and gloom about the risks etc. I also at this time swapped to patches as I found the gel a bit of a faff and I went on to Evorel 75. I found the patches much easier and seemed to be getting on okay with them. I used my first one on 7th Feb this year. I’ve also just started using vagifem and have used them every night for 8 nights as I was told to take continuously for 2 weeks then twice a week after.
Today I’ve had a bleed 😫 a sort of browny/pink discharge and accompanied by period pains and bloating. I’m gutted to have got this far (almost a year) and for it to happen now.
My question is: Could it be due to the change over to patches? And if so should I reduce the dose or just wait it out. Or is it due to the vagifem?
I know any bleeding after menopause should be checked by the gp but I know that if I get an appt they’ll tell me to stop taking it (and secretly be thinking we told you so!) and I don’t feel they’ll have the knowledge to give me the correct advice.
Has anyone else had a similar experience and if so should I go to the drs??
Sorry for the long post!
