Bleeding on Utrogestron
« on: March 12, 2022, 07:32:43 AM »

Morning ladies! I’ve been on continuous Utrogestron for a year now and still get regular normal bleeds every 25-30 days, is this normal?

No flan, it isn’t.
Post meno women shouldn’t bleed.
Maybe a cyclical regime would be better?

Hi Nas I’m still peri and because I had been on it over a year I was switched to continuous!

As you're peri you can expect bleeding. Hrt is designed to work with your body, it doesn't stop your own cycle. You would be better to stay on on a sequi regime until you're meno.

Hi you'd probably be better on a cyclical regime as sheila99 suggested.  HRT will not stop your periods x

Hi Flan747. As you saw on the other thread, I have experienced this too. I had not had a period for a year so my menopause specialist put me on continuous Utrogestan. I started having spotting and my GP freaked out and put me on a two week referral for a transvaginal scan, which sowed a thickened womb lining. I then saw a gynaecologist who said it was because I was still having ‘natural periods’ but that they were struggling to fully shed due to the continuous Utrogestan. She put me onto 12 days of Utrogestan per month and I now have a bleed every month. I think you would be better on a cyclical regime like mine. My gynaecologist was really surprised that I’d been put on continuous as peri is a very long process. Please let us know how you get on.

Oh really thank you that’s so interesting! I wonder if I could do and longer cycle as it helps with sleep? Also I started my period yesterday so could I stop this evenings Utrogestron ?

Yes, I’d stop now and start again on the 1st of April. It’s easier to keep up with if you start from the 1st.

As you have your own regular cycle it's unlikely you will change it with hrt. I've tried to extend my cycle but I bled anyway. Day 1 is the 1st day of your bleed, then utro days 15-26.
MrsRoo it can be an option in late peri to take it for 25 out of 28 days which will allow a bleed if there's been a build up.
