Androfemme
« on: February 26, 2022, 01:19:00 PM »

Hi

I’ve been using Androfemme daily for a couple of years now with no problem. However, my last bloods showed it to be at the high end of normal and to use it every other day.
Since I started this regime I’ve felt really jittery and anxious on the days I use it.
Anyone else feel like this? I thought my oestrogen was too high but now I’m wondering if it’s the testosterone. I’m going to stop it for a bit and see what happens x

Yes I get like that on testosterone, so I minimise it to 3 x per week (Mon, Wed, Fri) and that does the trick x

Oh thank you - I might give that a try as every other day still seems to be too much x

Same as Perinowpost here, 3x a week same days as she listed.

Oh, I'm on Testogel though and after 5 months of each day a pea-size is when it kicked in for me, we are all different.

I had to dial down the dose as i felt a bit too amorous for my own liking  ;)

Hi there - I've never used Androfeme, only the testosterone gels. We have to distinguish between libido and response where libido is the desire and response is - well just that! You know the result (I'm not going to be explicit on an open forum!). So testosterone had very little effect on libido - but response is perfect - that had completey gone before I started using it and now has been restored to the maximum I would say....

I've never felt jittery and tearful (only during peri...) - that seems an unusual side effect - I had thought that any adverse side effects might be aggression and anger etc but I've never experienced this. I use a very scientifically measured (!) "pea sized blob" of 1 % testogel daily. My T levels have always been within normal range when measured and the Female Androgen Index (FAI) also within range and satisfactory.

If T levels are measured you also need to have SHBG measured which gives the FAI - because SHBG binds to free tesosterone  - making it unavailable for use by the body ( though I've never quite understood this because all our hormonal systems are dynamic not static).

High end of normal should be fine but if you think it's making you feel rough then sounds like a good idea to reduce. Re oestrogen - what are your levels? I can't comment on jittery feelings but I gather high oestrogen ( delivered exogenously through HRT) can sometimes make women feel like this because there is a sudden spike which is artificially induced because it is applied externally.

Remind us of where you are in menopause and what your HRT regime is?

Hi Hurdity

Thank you for your reply.

I’m 52 and peri (I think).

I’m currently on Estradot 75, Provera 5mg daily and ‘small blob’ of Androfemme.

My oestrogen level was 310 (apparently 350 is the number to aim for) so there is scope to add more oestrogen. However I find that too much oestrogen for me causes the same symptoms as not enough - tearful, low mood etc. so it’s hard to tell if it’s too much or not enough  :(

My female androgen index was 3.24.

My SBGH was 37.

Hope this helps!  X
