Heavy breasts and weight gain.
« on: February 25, 2022, 04:14:15 PM »

I’ve been on Estradot patch and Utrogestan for almost a year .
I started on 25mcg patch and 200mg utrogestan for 12 day cycle . Recently changed to 50mcg patch and 100mg utrogestan continuous.
My weight has increased and my breasts are heavy and tender . I’m thinking the side effects are worse than the symptoms I was getting.
Do you think im on too high a dose or should I come off it altogether?

Why did you increase? You doubled the dose, is there a way to go to 75mg?
I get heavy breasts and weight gain when I’m on a higher estrogel dosage, and I prefer how I feel on a lower dosage in comparison.

Thanks for your reply.. I was advised to increase after blood tests.
A little confused as you’re now suggesting 75mcg?
I definitely felt better on 25mcg .. I think I’ll reduce ..

Shannonplussed - did your anxiety increase too?
How long should it take for me to feel any better once I reduce ?

You could cut a piece off the 50 patch to give you something in between. Most people get sore with too much oestrogen though for others (like me) it's from progesterone. It may settle on the higher dose with time it perhaps better to increase more slowly and see how you get on. Were you a year without a bleed before you started hrt? If you're still peri rather meno the conti regime you've changed to may result in breakthrough bleeding.

Sheila99
It’s just a year since I had my last period . Hence why I had to wait a year to do continuous utro.
Maybe it is the progesterone.🤷‍♀️
I will definitely reduce back to 25mcg and if weight and tender breasts doesn’t settle I will try taking utro vaginally.

If it's the utro you might be better to stick to a sequi regime.

Sorry about the numbers, I misread.

It may get better—apparently estrogenic side effects are more pronounced for the first cycle so it may settle if given time.

I can’t advise about anxiety. Mine has gotten better with time but I can’t put my finger on why.
