Utrogestan and Estrogel
« on: February 18, 2022, 12:54:56 PM »

The doctor says I’m now post menopausal and since November I take Estrogel every night alongside Utrogestan. My Estrogel dose was recently upped from 2 pumps to 3.

In January I was losing a brown discharge and occasionally spotting. At the end of January I had three days of light bleeding. This scared me silly because no one warned me progesterone does this.

Wednesday I had a light bleed then it tailed off to brown discharge but today I have cramps and am bleeding more than last time.

Is this normal? No one’s told me how heavy the bleeding can be, how long it lasts and how frequently I should expect this and even if it stops. Or will it continue all the while I’m on HRT?

I hope someone can help. Thank you.

Hi bleeding can happen during first six months of starting any new hrt.

We’re you 12 months without a period when you started the hrt ? x

Also the bleeding can be due to the fact that you’ve just increased the dose of Oestrogel.

I thought that, yes. Probably also the reason my breasts and armpits are so sore ☹️

I have considered going back to 2 pumps as it was only increased to curb my anxiety but honestly it hasn’t touched it. I’m still as anxious as ever x

Anxiety has other causes too so it may not be mono related. Did it come with meno or precede it? Mine took 3 months to go though so you do need to give it some time if you can cope with it.

I’ve had it since I was 17 but menopause aggravated it 😕

Can anyone tell me roughly how long this bleeding should last? It’s been properly since Friday, although it feels longer. Thank you x
